Blaemire Green and Red Resto

Loading...

I obtained a Kit of Blaemire shells in this rare color.

Green FG with Red roving.

Never seen it before.

Al was getting artsy.

BD will be first. 24x16.

Came with an old Pearl hex DT holder.

Eliminated. Holes filled.

Will be a no tom mount BD.

Many lug holes. Many!!!!! To be Filled.

So far the filler is FG resin, FG cloth for the big holes and FG tint.

This is a big kit.

12, 13 14, 16, 18

I have a lot ....... "A LOT"...... of holes to fill.

Sanded my first large patches today.

Color a bit too neon bright.

Cut 2 patches out to redo.

I am getting closer to a color match with the resin and tints.

Less is more. Just a little green.

Resin is light brown out of the can.

Also, I noticed I am really missing the red lines.

Thought I could paint them in.........but not right.

So on todays re-patch with adjusted color, I put in strands of red thread embedded in the resin.

That is,............. I hope it is embedded enough but not too much.

Will sand the red thread patches tomorrow.

Will take pics even if it came out horribly.

Don't fret too much over it, it's all going to be hidden under the lugs anyway. Use large washers on the back-side of the lugs to spread the tension a little around those repairs. 'Candy Cane', I love it! Al was really starting to play with finishes! Jerry was doing the same thing at the end. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

I just traded a 61' WMP Buddy Rich Classic for an orange 6.5x14 10 lug Jenkins/Martin snare drum. I love it. That makes two of Jerry's drums that I now have in my stash. At some point, I have to get a Jenkins/Martin kit.

You're a lucky dog. You know that has to be a 'one-of-a-kind' kit right? I've never seen, or heard of another in that finish. That one is a keeper for life. Valuable drums.

I'll be following intently. Can't wait to see them reassembled and ready for action. Insane find. Lucky, lucky, lucky!

Hey John, Thanks

Well, my color matching still needs some work for the double tom mount holes.

The lugs holes are fine and extremely solid.

Lugs cover them.

No washers needed for strength.

Maybe for looks.

BTW, The red thread did not work. Sanded right off.

Glad to hear from ya Purdie.
