Sanded the BD with 60 grit.

Palm sander with dust collector hooked up to a small vac.

Pretty good outside.

Wet sanded with soap and water with 80.

Hosed down with water hose.

How did you clean your drums???? with a hose..Really????

24"x3.14=75.36"=6.28'

Lot of real estate on a 24 BD.

Check true and layout next.

Very nice !!

>> Lot of real estate on a 24 BD.

Truth there. Exactly why the 28" is "On Hold" :-). Concert bass drum stand that came with a 22" is a huge back saver. No good for putting bits back on but great for working on the outer shell.

Thanks for the update.

+1 I get so jealous every time I see a raw fiberglass shell!

I worry about you guys breathing that stuff when you sand. What kind of breathing gear do you wear? HEPA mask? I figure it has to be something heavy duty.

Too many great drums to list here!

John, with a vacuum hose hooked up to a sander with holes in the pad and a dust collection feature on the sander, most of it goes in the vacuum.

I do it outside in the breeze.

Dust mask if needed.

Also, for the finer grits, wet sanding reduces all the dust to a liquid paste.

Nothing flying around in the air with soap and water.

Did you see the pic on post #28? We wore heavy duty masks, and Jerry had a nice vacuum dust collector hooked up to the sander. We were always careful to take every precaution.

I missed that one, (28) but I figured it had to be something heavy duty like that.

Not very exciting,but.......

I am getting closer to making these holes go away.

This color is a different animal.

The top hole in pic is getting closer.
