Yeah, I think the artist airbrush can get you there Scott. I love the way that grain looks!

Man if that thing hadn't been predrilled for legs it would have been easy to hide all the repairs on the bottom by turning the damn thing. You're doing an amazing job saving it. After you get done with it that drum will never have sounded/played so good.

John: I thought of the same thing. Flip it over.

But the spur holes were already drilled.

Mendozart: Yes, I need an airbrush. And some airbrush chops.

From FFR428

I think you did a excellent job! Can't be a easy trying to match the green/red spun glass pattern. I dig the Slingerland hardware on these. Don't think I've seen that on any Blaemire shells. Only Ludwig and Rogers. These are such cool drums!

Yes, the Sling hardware was a surprise to me too.

I did not recognize it as Sling.

I am not familiar with Sling.

Had to ask on the Forum what it was.

I thought it might have been MIJ.

But clues were lug screws 8-32 and a heavy, better quality pot metal.

Sling lugs are made well.

And yes, I have never encountered a Blaemire kit with Sling Hardware.

But I believe this kit was originally set up for Pearl lugs.

Thus all the holes I had to fill in the shell.

Kit came with all the Pearl Lugs and 3/4 of the Sling.

Decided to go with Sling.

Purchased the missing Sling lugs.

Got tons of Pearl now.

Thanks for the encouragement fellas.

This one was easier than the 24.

This kit came with all of these alan head 8-32 screws.

I think they are stainless or aluminum.

Used them for the lugs.

And....I like them.

Easier to install.......for me.

Thanks John.

Got an 18 Clear Amby for the reso today.

Had no more 18 heads left.??? Really??

Installed head, rims (polished on wheel with compound)and rods on reso side.

Just in case you thought it was a concert tom.

AND.............The 18 had..........NO EXTRA HOLES!!

Had to drill one more myself for the second air vent hole.

Second vent hole placed opposite side of the existing centered one.

Placed it in the nodal point on reso side.

These big Blaemires like 2 vent holes.

This shell was very close in square and layout.

I "did" have to lay it out with my template and file some holes to get the lugs lined up and distance from bearing edge uniform.

Gave the finished drum a tap or two.

Usual low end Blaemire richness.

Thanks for tuning in.
