OK next up was a drum I bought from John V. You'll be hearing more about him today. :D It's a 67 5 line Dynasonic. I just love this drum. Have had it a few months. I had a snag during the purchase. John was so very kind to hold it until I got things together on my end. TommyP's tutorial was first class getting me straight on how to set it. I never had one so this is a coll experience for me!! Here's a few pictures. It's in the regular rotation so please excuse the fingerprints!! I use it a lot! :) Not sure if I posted about this one yet. If so sorry.

Glenn - What finger-prints? That drum looks cleaner and shinier than when I sent it to you. The elbow grease shows! You did a nice detailing job on it. I'm so glad it went to a good home. :p

Too many great drums to list here!

Ok and here's the best part of today. Sorry for the delay had company show up here. This is the Rogers snare John gifted me yesterday. New heads and perfectly tuned out of the case! A real gem and sounds so so nice!!! Beautiful WMP goes perfect with the other drums. So have a cool COB Dyna and beautiful wood shell Powertone makes it complete. John I like said I can't thank you enough for this gift. It's something that'll stay with me always. John also gave me the drum in a nice case! The Dyna is resting in there with the PT on the stand for a while. Your one of the people that make this place great!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Thanks John~! I did give it a nice clean when I first got it. But it's getting a lot of use so it'll need a quick detail at some point. For now I'm just enjoying all these drums! I can see why people like a LOT of them! :D

Small update. Getting there! I need some new heads and finding correct period T rods for the toms and mufflers quite a challenge! But they are playable for now. I found a 2nd floor tom on ebay pretty cheap. Incorrect hoops and legs. Working on that. Keller shell (5ply?) #24494 with sharper bearing edges. That still needs the full resto. Most lugs are cracked. But here's where we are today. The highlight of this kit is the beautiful WMP snare John V gifted me. Really pulls it all together. When I feel brassy I have the 67 COB Dyna. Also from John! More later!

Glenn,

First, thanks for sharing the pics and update on this resto. I know you've been working on it for a while, and I was wondering how it was coming along. It's looking great! I love the idea of the second 16"FT to give you that classic BR "1 up, 2 down" setup (and you know Tommy P will agree). I applaud you for taking on the challenge of finding all the Cleveland hardware and B&B lugs to create a kit from bare shells. Clapping Happy2

I noticed the factory-mounted leg collet on that second FT is not centered between the lugs. Is that normal? I only have one Cleveland drum (22" bass), so I'm not personally familiar with Rogers' earlier Jasper shells.

Keep us updated on this project.

Thanks Jeff! The 2nd floor tom is a 16" also. All sizes are 22-16-16-13-14s. I guess the chances of ever finding a 18" or 20" floor from this time would be pretty slim. But I'm also not 100% certain on that either!

Mike thank you also! Yes Tommy P has helped me a bit with info and a cool pic of a bass drum reso head I'm doing. BR related of course! Yes it's funny on the floor tom collets. Neither drum has them centered. Nor a perfect triangle in geometry either. Guess it was not intended to be as it doesn't look like they can all be even spaced between the lugs. 2 look close but the 3rd is the odd man out. But both drums are original no extra holes or things moved. Or on the others either which is nice and why I chose to take these on. B&B lugs are a pia though! Please excuse the grubby inside FT pic. I still need to clean and restore it. I don't think it's ever been apart. It's interesting the washer snipped to fit by the lug screws. The other Jasper shell drum had witness marks for small washers in these spots and large top and bottom. Guess it depends who put them together maybe? It also has the medium size lugs compared to the others with the large. Once the whole kit is done I'll post more pics.

Thanks everyone for the advice and information along the way so far.
