Only EIGHT documented Jazzette kits?

Whoa, I think this is getting a bit out of control! I have been reading this from the begining and have understood everything O-lugs has been saying, very simple, he's looking for how many true jazzette's there are. Hey man, if it doesn't interest you, don't read it, but don't get all bent over it.

God BLESS you, lucky!

O-Lugs,

Why do you insist on insulting me on this forum? What have I done to you personally?

By the way O-Lugs that red sparkle set is flippin beautiful!!! And I'm sure it's factory I just wanted to explain a possibility of sets that might look "legit" that actually aren't legit. I really hope none of this stuff is coming out like I'm mad because I'm really not...I'm actually really interested in this topic. Maybe you should start a new thread with what exactly you want to find. Which is.....a factory matched(close serial numbers) jazzette kit.

thanks, man.

And yes, I do understand that there will always be exceptions to the rule.

Someone might find a bass drum and some toms with very close serial numbers (as I have stated happened to me with the '67 "Fakette" I own), ;) and that, by my own definition, isn't good enough to cut the mustard. What I wanted to try and accomplish was to collect MORE data and pictures of Jazzettes for the VDG. Why didn't I think about Downbeat kits or Super Cassic kits? Because they are both MUCH more common configurations. The Jazzette, by comparison, is extremely rare. It is the rareness factor that I thought might be an attractive facet for those interested people. no other forum has anything like the VDG. And most of the other forums reference the VDG quite often when they are checking serial numbers, finishes, badges, etc.

It was an idea to expand the already-existing Jazzette section from the EIGHT kits that are presently listed there into a more expanded version.

But, again, there must be some kind of definition as to just what a Jazzette is, right? We have definitions as to what is a Black beauty. We have definitions as to what is a Supra. We have definitions as to what is a "Bonham" type kit or a "Ringo" type kit. So, why not have a clear definition as to what a Jazzette kit is?

Well, if my definition is not correct, then someone tell ME what a Jazzette is, then! PLEASE!

I agree that this thread has gotten way out of hand. From all participants at that, myself included.

Now here's my 2 cents on the subject. Who really cares how many were actually made? We've already determined the answer is not many. Lets just leave it at that. You'll never get an actual answer, even from Ludwig.

If you wanted this thread to be "post pics of your Jazzette here" this is what you should have said and not started this stupid flip-flop no direction thread that seems to have pi$$ed a bunch of members off over their knowledge of vintage drums.

BTW, to the member who stated that 18" bass drums are toys.....wrong! Roy Haynes, Elvin Jones, and even Frank Beard (ZZ Top) can tell you different. Its all in what heads you use and how its tuned, just like any other drum. An 18" bass drum can sound HUGE, IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

Now, as I stated before, I am not interested in Jazzette kits in general, I am just interested in MY Jazzette and geting it back. If I do find it and get it back, I have ZERO intention of ever letting it go again. It will probably sit in cases in the closet again, but at least I will have it again.

Man this forum has gone seriously down hill in the week that I was away from it. It truly is starting to sound like a forum filled with Corvette guys......I'm a car guy too, and I really can't stand Corvette guys. Everyone I've met is the most anal-retentive arrogant a$$hole I've ever met. Please don't let this forum get like that.

Insult you? I wouldn't waste my time, man. I don't even know who you are! I just tend to communicate with people in the way they first choose to communicate with me. You haven't done anything to me, personally. It's just the subject at hand. I am trying to be as specific as I can be and you seem to want to take exception to that. I'm not insulting you any more than you are insulting me, imo.

What I am after, in this thread, are some clearly-defined legitimate Jazzette kits. That's it.

That is utter nonsense. If you don't want to admit it, fine. That's fine. In your mind it never happened. Whatever. You have really displayed a serious lack of character here. That is the most personal I will get in this whole mess. I am truly sorry that my attempts to help you were misunderstood and I am truly sorry that this forum had to endure this tripe. I'm at a loss with how to file you away.

LOL! We can't even decide on what defines a Jazzette kit!

Listen, I make the threads the way I want to make them. If you don't want to participate for whatever reasons, then don't. It's as simple as that.

The thing that has gone downhill isn't this forum. That's kind of an all-inclusive statement that's really not fair to all the other subjects of discussion, here. The thing that's moved this subject downhill are all the people who want to direct how I should communicate on this thread.

If you don't care about Jazzettes, then don't bother joining the discussion! If you do, then contribute something appropriate. But, please, don't direct me. Maybe you don't like my definitions of what I say a legit Jazzette is. Fair enough.

And for what it's worth...I LOVE Corvettes. I guess I would likely fall into the category of "Corvette guy", too. Love me or hate me. It doesn't matter. I look at things in a very detail-oriented way. Maybe some of you other guys are loose and free like James Dean -wild and unbridled! lol! But, I am one of those Corvette guy types.

*I just finished painting all the trim in my kitchen this last Friday and I spent a STUPID amount of time making sure that all the paint lines were perfectly straight and even. It's done now. Nobody will ever notice that I made such an effort. Nevertheless, that's just me.
