Thanks Osakabop, for answering this difficult quest.

I know that ASAMA was named from a japanese Honshu volcano

and that this factory made guitars as well.

tom holders are from "the Pearl type" but not "Pearl made" (fast lock),

and the lugs, inspired by Yamaha definitely Asama die-casted with the carving of the double volcano on it

I have posted everything I collected about ASAMA on the french forum

"La Drummerie": http://www.ladrummerie.com/

some pictures of the well known "14"x8"", with the "sonor-ish" lugs; on the french forum thread you will find more models

a 14"x6"

I'm looking forward for "Peters" drums, japan; very nice kits with proprietary hardware, from the mid 60's and later.

any hints ?

have a nice week end

I have an mij pyramid badge kit in white satin flame. I have not seen that badge on the site. the 16" floor tom matches the kit but with a star badge. They sure did like to change their name/badges! pics in the new year

my toms were added to an existing green sparkle 1962 Slingerland 5 piece set. They appear to be Japanese as the lugs and mounting hardware look just like Slingerland, but the mount is stamped JAPAN. They are blue sparkle, and all of these toms were wrapped in black contact paper as the former owner was a metal-head and liked the sinister look of the flat-black covering. To my benefit, I removed the original snare's wrapping to see this wonderful perfectly preserved green sparkle....my question is...the extra toms I believe are made in Japan and would like to have comments or opinions on who made them ( star?)..thank you.

3repus - if you post pics of the hardware on the drums - it might be quite easy to identify. These MIJ drums with Slingerland looking parts are very common.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Greetings! New guy here. Hopefully I am attaching a photo of my recently detailed "Drum Mate" 5X14 snare. I believe it was produced under the "Star" name which later became Tama (or something like that). I want to sell (probably) but have no idea of the value. Anyone familiar?

Thanks!

Hello and Welcome

You may find more detailed information about Star on my website (see below). In general these single snare drums are not too worth. I'd say EUR 30 - 60 for a piece in good and complete condition. Maybe it's another value in the USA (I'm speaking for Germany/ Europe)?
