Yep, I've seen the Tempo badge, it looked exactly like the Tempro badge, the Pearl made ones anyway. But I think Star made a Tempo badge (the black oval type) as well.

Just an idea: Isn't it possible to add the Star badges ALL below the header 'Pre-Tama badges' (and not left-right)? My opinion: it clarifies better what belonged to Star (and what not).

Furtheron there is one mistake in the list. You state:

My first drum set was purchased from Sears in 1969. I don't have a picture of the badge but the name was SORENTO. The badge was an oval shape very similar to the 60's era Slingerland badges. Turns out the drums and hardware were made by Pearl. The BD pedal and HiHat pedal both carried the company name. You are correct that the drums were Mahogany and one had to be careful with them.

In my case, the set stayed with me a long time. I finally sold them when I got to college and bought a seven piece Gretsch USA kit which I still own. Unfortunately, the Sears kit was sold to prison which burned down a year later.

I've attached a picture of the Sears ad (from the '69 Sears Wish Book) and the only pic of the set that survives. Hopes this helps complete the history.

Here is another Logo. -Small sticker, less than 1" long.

"Sogo" I had never heard of this brand before I got my hands on this snare drum. A friend told me that "Sogo" is supposed to mean "small drum" in japanese. I have no idea who manufactured this but it seems to be japanese from the 70's.

I have a Majestic drumset bought on 1982. It is totally original and I have never changed anything, not even the drumheads. The only thing I have bought some years after are the cymbals. I hope you can see my photos and please tell me any stories about the drumset.

Cool outfit and cool pictures, my friend!!

The Tempo set I had in the sixties had a round badge with red background, the "T" crossed by a pair of drumsticks...I don't have the set anymore but I do have one of the badges. Also, I've checked the Tempro badge shown on this site, against my Tempo, and the lettering is the same script, even the crossed drumsticks. The only difference is the r and the fact that the badge itself, as said, is round on the Tempo. So it seems to me that whoever made Tempros also made Tempos...

I own a set of Tempo drums not, Tempro. ALL of the hardware is identical to my set of Supremes ( a stencil of Star) leading me to believe they are made by Star. Even the badge (Tempo, World's Supreme Quality, Made in Japan. oval) points to the Star manufacturer.I think that Ralf also agrees. There are others on VDF though, who maintain they were made by Pearl. As I do not profess to be an expert at anything, they may be right.

Those recessed lug bolts and the lug casing design are the same as my early 70s Hoshino/Kawai set (note: Hoshino/Kawai is not the Star/Hoshino Co.)
