This baby just came up for auction, at $1 reserve, looks like old star lugs on it! Anyone know what it is? Definitely dirty but worthy of a punt. Keep on Pl

I was suprised when I found out hayman pearl sonor premier and many others offered clear kits,at first I was thinking maybe sonor because of the teardrop offset lugs, but sonor had gone to the new lugs by then, and I believe there was a thread on star brand acrylics,so I believe they exist, and looked like that, same clear no tint. Can't tell if the snare is clear but I would love to have a kit like that,I would go for it.I would imagine they could bring as much money as any early 70's mij could command, depending on condition and if that is a matching snare.Hopefully some of the more knowledgeable guys will be along to verify what they are and what pricing would be.kit looks fairly complete but I don't see a second tom arm and can't see if the spur legs for the kick, but I think I can see the muffler on the ft.

Yeah it seems lot's of brands did the acrylic kit thing in the 70's saw a clear pearl recently. The snare is not acrylic unfortunately, Pretty hard to tell if there's any major cracks in it but, this has piqued my interest for sure. I'll have a look for that thread can't find anything in the catalogues thus far!

Star Crystalites. They will command a high price! They will go for 750, maybe more. In the US, they go for 500, and more, and that is a complete-ish kit. Cleaned up, they are bad to the bone. And they don't spider like most other acrylics do. These drums are amazing qua;ity and if you can get them, by al;l means, take the top spot and don't look back. If you can stand it, place a $1000.00 bid now and let it ride. They will be high, but if you take a position now, you will be assured victory. DON'T WAIT to play second fiddle. Take the lead if you really want them. They are, again, some of the best acrylics on the market, hands down. Better than Vistas, better than Fibes, nothing compares to them. They don't crack unless seriously abused. The missing tom arm should be easy to find. I am sure Mikey has one. Or Ralf may know where to find one. I only wish I could find one of these sets. Man! Those are waiting for a good cleaning and new heads and a good friend to take them out to a live show once in awhile...

My strategy on them would do exactly that, go for a grand and let the early birds peck until you run them off. Then you may end up lower than expected.

The snare sould look like this:

It is COS and weighs like 12lbs!

Those are sweet! Thanks for posting them, he needs to see what they look like cleaned in order to get a good idea of the potential.

It's amazing. Guess the seller doesn't have the faintest idea of what he is presenting here ...

I don't know whether STAR acrylics crack as Sonor's (and all others) may do. That would be the only doubts for me before bidding.

Concerning the missing tom holder: I know some addresses, where they could be found (besides Mikey, who would be the first to ask for me). And perhaps it's still inside at the other tom? Can't see it through the dust of the centuries on it.:p

Saw that one Trev, looks like a diamond in the rough? Sure looks like an early Star/Tama kit – they didn't always have a matching clear snare drum so it could be native to the kit – most likely a COS
