Old k's Istanbul.
small world. I have an old Sonor teardrop set, vintage 1972 and have the Premier hi-hat and cymbal stands like yours
Lets see it!
Must get up the energy to pull them out of road cases and shoot them. I bought them new in 1972, would not even take them home from the store until the cases came in, toured with them for two years, then retired to take full-time agent job which is what I still do.
13" tom and the case that it left the music store in

All chrome pretty close to flawless

So I have: 2 x 13" toms, 1 x 16" floor tom, 2 x 22" bass drums, 2 x floor cymbal stands, 2 x cymbal stands that mount on the bass drums. All in the same condition as the pictured drum, all rosewood finish.
You seem to be expert in this. What do think they are worth? Is it worth the effort and $ to "finish" the set with a Sonor snare of the same vintage before selling?

Wow, those look nice. Are they actually early phonics with the last of the teardrop lugs (I'm being lazy here and not checking the catalogues)? They look quite different from my earlier teardrop kit. Pics here: http://tinyurl.com/qde6q7

I dunno. They were the top of the Sonor line when I ordered them in August of 1972. I worked in a music store and ordered them from Germany. It took 5 weeks to get them. They do not have any hoops in the shells and it's fairly thick plywood.
Wooh.
Nice work a bunch of hours to recieve such a nice drumset. congrats
@musicman
The "new Beats" or known as teardrops are 6ply beech with a round bearing edge. The phonic had 9ply with a 45° bearind edge. The rosewood finish on teardrops was never shown in regular catalogues. This finish actually came up in the catalogues with the later champions and super champions. As u said u bought in in 1972, its one of the last teardrops.I think they were produced until 1972. I think its more ore less impossible to find a matching D471 in rosewood or a D425.
I love those old sonor drums an, i probably should publish some pictures of my collection in this forum. If u ever want to sell the rosies: let me know. Would be perfectly matching to my collection.
great job j. they look dignified. like our hair turning gray.if you need a
place to keep them don't be afraid to ask. after all what are friends for
anyway? they must sing huh?
Gee. Those rosewoods are identical to the 1970 drums that I own. Which are for sale, by the way in the "for sale" section. (shameless plug and hi-jack.)
