It was some time back in 2009 when I was searching the internet for any foreign info about czech Amati drums (just for the fun of it) when I stumbled upon this forum. It looked interesting and a whole new world opened before me. But it wasn't until this thread that I became really hooked up on it. Whole process of turning a pile of sorry, beat-up, dirty shells into such great lookin' and great soundin' kit amazed me. After reading this thread, I really started thinking about getting me a vintage drumset. And after about two years of waiting and occasional dead-end buying decision, I did. I really wanted some pearl or sparkle, but I ended up with wonderful kit in white oyster finish similar to yours... coincidence, I would say, if I believed in coincidences...

So, jcymbal, once again congrats to your beautiful instrument and thank you for getting me into wonderful world of vintage drums!

This is really an inspiring series - watching the progress as you carefully restored these Sonor classics is making me want to find a similar project and make an old neglected set beautiful and functional again. Congratulations on all of your hard work, and thanks for sharing all of your steps and restoration tips with all of us!
