Hi Folks,
I'm in the very slow process of building my own drum kit from scratch (except for the screws, throw and butt-end). The proces gets slowed down extra due to an increase of job-hours the up coming 2 years :-(
The kit will be: 24x14, 12x9, 16x16 and a 15x6 snare. It's a stave construction in oak. I tried to make the shells as thin as possible (with integrated re-rings) and succeeded: Toms are 3,5 mm thin, bass 5 mm, and snare also 5 mm.
No idea of the sound yet, cause there's still a lot more work to be done before I can even play them, but that's ok.
Here's a preliminary picture of the snare drum, it will give an indication of how the kit will look. The toms and bass will have single node tube lugs as well. The lugs, rims and clips I machined myself from solid aluminium.
