Tama Swingstar - Restoration Project

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

@Drummerjohn333 Thanks for the info. I already have a 14"x6-1/2" black badged Tama :) After a restoration like this it will be like new, because it is in better condition than this red badged. The only problem is the throw off, it is broken. Cheers

Love that snare. I recently got one, and I have been using it more than my 14x6.5" Imperialstar mastercraft. You're kit looks fantastic. Great job with everything.

Thank You :) This snare has good construction quality considering being a low-medium range. I will consider use it on next live show, but my 14"x5" Supra is the loyal war horse.

Are the throw-offs the same one/hole spacing? Why not put this one on the black badged one?

My first thought was - why would you restore something so heavily pitted?? But then I thought - the cool part is that this is now a really clean fully functional drum (that sound great I understand). That's the cool part - that most people would just dismiss something so badly rusted and pitted - and yet we drum enthusiasts see something like that in its redeemed state.

I still would have never even restored this one and just been happy with the black badged one, but I can at least appreciate what you have done here. I have a snare like that - though not nearly as heavily pitted, yet pitted nonetheless - where some others would not have even gone there.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Glad you like it @Drummerjohn333. This restoration - drums and snare - was a challenge to me since the beginning. I learned a lot doing it and now I am ready to restore my other kits. I wanted to see how far I could get, since it was in pretty bad shape. The result is pleasant to see, considering the initial condition.
