Thanks Jim. It's a great shell and will sound nice when done. Mahogany interior shells have such a nice sound to them. I love the yellowed WMP wrap too it's a great match. Thanks again!

Work continues on the 15" shell. The batter side setup really nice and is good to go. I got the holes measured, marked and drilled for the beavertail lugs. Done. Last thing I needed to do is glue the bottom of the seam on the reso side. Done. I have some hoops in the works and found a badge for the shell. Coming along nicely. We also fix toys too LOL :)

Shell repair is pretty much done for now. I do need to still plug a few holes which I'll do asap. I need to repair 2 lugs where a old mounting screw snapped off inside the holes. I'll take a floor tom mount off my 60's kit and see how the holes line up. If ok I'll then look for some mounts and legs. I thought about a cradle but they don't make a 15" version. I plan to use a 15" wood hoop and claws on the bottom. This will give it some depth sitting next to the 16". Precision I see sells them but they are maple ply hoops. We'll see what I can find. Once I save a few extra bucks (broke at the moment) I'll get those parts, heads and T rods and that should do it. I'll have a few 15" metal hoops and a badge soon. Looking pretty good so far though. I treated the inside with Howards Feed n wax. Restoration polish on the outside of the shell shined it up a bit. ;) BTW after I first wiped down the outside of the shell with damp cloth I used a magic eraser on some scuffs and marks. Took them all right off.

The Magic Eraser is...well, magic, I guess.

See the before and after of my snare here: http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=27423.

As I just noted in my original post in this thread, it will lightly scuff your wrap. The good news is that another genius invented Novus 2, which will, uh, magically polish the Magic Eraser scuffs away.

Glenn, I'm enjoying seeing your progress, and it's good to see you enjoying those amazing drums!

Hi Lynn thanks for linking your thread. I was looking for it and couldn't find it. Yes indeed the magic eraser did dull the finish. But cleaned it really nice and took off the scuffs and a few marks which looked like a marker. I still need to try the Novus 2. I've been using that Restoration polish but it does fade after several months it seems.

Thanks buddy and please post a mug shot of you behind the kit if you have one. ;) It's mug shot Friday here ya know. Cool1

MAN! A mug would be an awfully big shot! I wouldn't be able to play drums after that! Oh, you mean a photograph of me playing...:p

I'll see if I can have my wife snap a picture tonight.

Well~! Today was a VERY interesting day. I came home and looked at the mail. Hmmm..... a letter from the State for jury duty....wonderful.... and the normal pile of bills. Next to the mail was a small box. No idea who the person on the return address was? Ok......LOL so I open the box and got the surprize of my LIFE! 2 Slingerland clamshell bodys 1 throw side and one tension side. Absolutely mint condition. I had been looking for these for quite some time. Last month there was a throw side on ebay. My son was bidding on it for me. well it ended on Super Bowl Sunday and for some reason he waited till there was 6 seconds to go to place my bid. Mind you I'd been telling him all week to please bid on it~! Yup got it Dad no problem. Well his bid didn't go through in time and we missed it.

Last week these popped up on ebay. Few guys sent me a message about them that knew I've been looking. A few weeks before I had pretty much lost my job. I was lucky to find a new place to work last week but not getting paid for 3 weeks from the old place has made things pretty tight. There was just no way I could even think about buying them. They were expensive!! I just want to say there are truly some very wonderful people on this forum! I'm not sure who bought them for me. I went to look at the EB ad and it was a BIN so you can't see who the buyer was. So whoever sent these to me please chime in. I truly want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have made some great friends here and have shared in the wonderful drums we work so hard to make new again. I feel very blessed to have such great friends here. If you were here you'd get a hug. Yes you would! I'm a little choked up here and this really means so much. It's tough out there for all of us. For someone to do this for me just really blows me away!! You have no idea. So thank you!! Yes Sir I do hope I can repay you someday somehow. So many of you have helped me out during my time here I'm really honored to be a part of it.

Here's a pic of them. I can't wait to get these on the snare!! Old "Woody" served me well but you can't beat the real deal parts that's for sure!

Thank you~!

Glenn.
