Slingerland Radio King WMP project kit........

I'm in the middle of a similar project, and recently picked up my 13" complete on EBay for $85.

I think that's the way to go here.

Love that bass drum!

Wow that's a great score on the 13" for $85. I'd love to see pics of your kit when you have the time.

Looking real nice. Those 20" bass drums pack a punch. Good luck and looking forward to seeing this one completed:). I put together a similar kit over the last couple of years and got almost everything (except the bass drum) cheap off of ebay. The deals are out there. Sometimes it just takes some time to get the sizes you are looking for..hang in there!

Hi James thanks very much. I always wanted to do one of these early kits in WMP so this one will be a blast.

Glenn, any progress on this one?John

Hi John! It's a steady work in progress. So there should be pretty regular updates now that I have a solid plan and direction. This one will take a little longer than the 60's kit as I need to track down some parts still. Hope you have been well buddy! ;)

IM with Adam, Why not find a wmp tom to go with this kit and keep looking for something to go with the ole family heirloom? I bought 2 ludwig toms from ebay just to get the lugs off of them a few yrs ago. Not vintage. They were tobacco burst stain. Looked real cool. Anyway, the small classic lugs hole pattern were different from vintage small classic lugs. I saved a search on ebay for a couple of years untill I had the whole kit. I just couldt stand having those toms without a home!! I know im insane!!

1960's SONOR 12-16-20-14 blue slate pearl

Yes I think I need to shop around and see what I can find. Just pricing aftermarket replacement parts and new wrap is close to $250. Unless I can find a great deal on some original parts finding a new tom seems to be the way to go. I'll see how things go. I still plan to repair the holes in the 13" shell. That's zero cost to me and needs to be done anyway even if it's saved for another day down the road.

I have cleaned and polished all the lugs from the 16". Those are looking pretty good. The heavy tarnish and pitting did take it's toll on them though. But they are sound structure wise and all springs and inserts in excellent shape. I got the excess glue cleaned up off the reso side of the 16" shell. Just a few minor areas to glue and clamp and minor out of roundness to deal with. But not bad at all. I have been looking for original floor tom leg mounts. I need a set of 3 if anyone happens to have or know of some for sale. Pic below of the mounts I need...........

Got the bass hoops sanded, prep and painted them tonight. This will finish off the bass drum and that'll be together by end of weeknend. Progress has been slow and I had to decide on a few things. But I am firming up a parts order on the missing parts I need. The 13" I have will be fixed, wrapped and used. ;)

Pic of the hoops in the booth. Not very exciting but more to come........
