Really nice. I wonder if some Novus would bring some shine to them?

Super mellow yellow, man. I like the results. I know what you're saying about the clarity and finish losses, but it looks so cool. Like, the kit "did its time". Bully for your saving it!

Good luck with the rest of the work and look forward to some completed pics.

PS - I also thought it was cancer-stick tar.

looks hella better. i would try to clean closer to the original wmp.

then you can buff the wrap to a shine. i have done that at my old job by using the buffer they use to buff out the laquer kits.

of course not everyone has a high speed buffer, but i heard of people using those home car buffers with great results. but you would need to glue down the cracked wrap areas first.

Woweee!!! That's an amazing transformation!!! Nice to see the pics of your progress. It's been a while since you got them. Great to see the thread continue. If you find a product that'll get them to shine that's great. If you can't that's fine, too, because it's still an amazing difference. Great work!

From auto.pilot

Really nice. I wonder if some Novus would bring some shine to them?

I am going to see if I can pick up some novus tomorrow.

As far as getting them back to original color, I'm really trying to just get it to look like the other 47 year old drums in WMP. I have an 8 lug wmp 14" floortom shell that will reside with it until I can find a clubdate one. And of course I need to find eithe a WMP pioneer or keystone acrolite.

Start work on the bass drum next.

And I still haven't finished with my '64 sparkling silver Clubdate.

Great job on the colour restore!

I would go now with a serious machine buff polishing, even done with a very high grade of water sand paper on wrap. This matt shade is only on few micrometers of wrap layer. There are few words about it on vintagedrumguide.com

Can somebody advice?
