Ludwig Drum Set Eagle Kit

From vintage drum bug

Someone was selling a set like this on ScamBay like a year ago. It sold for $750.00 w/o snare. Ludwig-dude (the real one) do you know if they were issued on different sizes or just the standard configuration?

They were offered as a five piece ONLY (no other configs were offered) in standard or power sizes and included a supraphonic for the snare.

Ive never seen one on the standard sizes. Always the Power sizes type. Its a sweet looking kit, By the way did you get my email with pics of the Speed kings?

Thanks for the info. Actually, there is a snare (looks like a supraphonic) and some cymbals with it. I'm going to have a look at them tomorrow. But I'm pretty sure I will be returning home with the drums !!

It's good to see this thread is still getting posts 5 years after my initial question. Great! I'm currently on tour with my trusty Ludwig eagle kit playing drums for Yann Tiersen in Europe.

I saw a documentary on TV about Buddy Holly a while back (looked like it was made in the 80's) and his drummer was interviewed sitting at, and then playing, one of the eagle kits.

I'd recommend these kits to anyone who's into an old school sound. Mine has the regular shallower toms and they sound amazing with coated Emperors on the batter side and clear ambassadors on the resonant side.

Best regards,

Neil

Just to bump this thread, I know Neil mentioned the Buddy Holly documentary. Here's Jerry Allison playing the Ludwig eagle kit at 4:25.

BTW, if anybody has one the these sets and wants to sell it, please contact me.

Thanks

I have one for sale. The reason why I'm selling it is that I've got a hearing injury and can't play anymore. DOH

It's a nice kit, but it has been used for several years.

I saw some time ago another guy wanted to sell his for 2000 Euro Without cymbals. I don't know the price range exactly, since I initially wanted to sell it as a complete set. But no question about it; I would definetely prefer to sell it to someone who'd appreciate it.

Contact me if interested.

JSP I was wondering if you have the original snare with that set and if so is it a 6 1/2"x14" Supraphonic with Classic bow tie lugs instead of the Imperial lugs?

One guy in my area has this snare (very badly pitted). It has imperial lugs, like this one:
