Sorry Oddball.

Real job and other shop business is keepin me from this.

I'll have pix out of 60's Supreme w. original finish before these are done.

Fall is humid time around here. ****ty time to spray lacquer.

I did however acquire a set of what looks like 50's Leedy 15" nob stick chopper rims that look alot like the cast Sonor rims from a glance for the 15x12 ft.

Haven't put down any more veneer. snare is next.

More pix soon.

KK

here's an update.

All the shells are wrapped except the 20"(need more veneer).

seams came in acceptably but I've found that using heat to set veneer makes it want to shrink.

+1 for jccabs contact cement method.

Here's the top of the kick.

Took me a while to decide how to do this but ended up runnin the seams under 2 rows of lugs.

Should be pretty invisible when finished.

Doin a couple of finish samples now so I'll post em and get your guys take on em before I proceed.

love the way this wood takes stain.

This is a combination of alcohol dye and water based stain.

Yeah JC. There's 2 coats of clear shellac over the stain.

so hard to photograph wood at such hi resolutions and still have it look good.

Pix don't really capture the way the samples "look"

As for right now, my beautiful shells are sitting on a rack in the shop and they are very yellow. BIG BIRD YELLOW.

but it's only cause I have the alcohol dye coats done. The red water-based stain id next.

Only really know what we have then.

This is the last pick you get till I show you a finished drum.

This is the snare. Just the alcohol dye and water based applied. bit of sanding.

shot a mist of water on it so you guys would get an idea of what it'll be when lacquered.
