I would think any Birch is loaded with oil, even after KD. I`ve seen Rosewood bubble after a year on guitars. Sonor has a special lacquer for Rosewood. Birch will prolly need to be treated first or the lacquer formulated. Wise to look into it before spray`n.

This is gonna sound stupidly ridiculous Holliwood,

Go to your printer, take out a bunch of paper, maybe 1/6" thick. Do the secretary thing and make sure they are stacked evenly. Hold it in both hands flat like a tray. Cup it around to make a tube/drum with the joint at the top.

If you did it correctly, you will see the tapers you need to have and why you are have`n trouble connecting sheet veneer joints. The last piece of a drum will have opposite tapers on each end.

You wouldn`t have to do this on flat surfaces !i

Make sense ?

If you use 90 degree joints, the corners will touch on the bottom, but not the top and the joint will show. When you hammer the joints closed, you smush up the bottom and get a lump.

If you wanna use 90 degree edges, you have to cut into a diamond and do it the way they make that tube in the middle of toilet paper !i
