I don't have those cats. I have a PDF of the parts pages I got off the Ludwig internet site. The sad thing is I used to have lots of these cats. I threw them out, as they were getting drug around all over the country. So sad. If you have a digital copy, I would be very grateful for the download. I'm trying to put this kit together and there isn't much left to get. It's been a hoot. Do you have the exact part number? Maybe the part is in this parts cat I have.

Amazingly... there is no part number!!! I was surprised by that as well. Ludwig simply calls it the "Hercules Ratchet"... and it is a pipe with the ratchet at the top, then another pipe that is connected to the top portion of the ratchet that forms the "L" if you will. I gotta run for now, but I'll post up a pic of this part a little later. Thing is though... WHERE would one find one of these???!!! Boggles the mind!! Or... could one modify the top portion of a Ludwig Hercules cymbal stand... I do believe that would be possible, and relatively easy to do as both these parts are related/same. A Ludwig Hercules cymbal stand would also be a lot easier to find me thinks!!

But there's more!...

I just compared them, the pic I put up of Buddy's set, and the Ludwig #3001 "Single Modular Tom Mount"... you know, side by each as the French Canadian's say. Hmmm... now I think that BR has an EARLY version of mount #3001 as there are some slight differences, but a lot of the mount is the same. The biggest difference is the actual ratchet section on Buddy's versus the final production model, which is again, part #3001. The ratchet section looks exactly like the "Hercules Ratchet" which is also listed in the catalog, but without a part number. Also notice that the mounting plate on Buddy's 9X13 IS NOT the modular model, but the older Super Classic model. Interesting stuff as there seems to be a combination of hardware on this particular set!

This has been quite a ride. I've been on the trail of this piece for a couple of months. You guys are the best. I can't tell you what this means. I'm gonna sleep (and go to Disney World!) Now, how do I get the thing? If ANYONE knows where I can get this...please help. This has been an intense search. I've hit so many walls, my nose is flat. Dang. I guess I could put up a "wanted" thread. I've searched ebay all during these months looking for a modular single arm with no luck. There's got to be someone out there that has one. I am so close to finishing this kit...

I was focusing on the arm itself and not the mounts per say. The side by side

comparison is the best way to do it and who better to solve this mystery and fine tune the Buddy history?

Thanks TommyP and if you need any catalog references I have most of the Ludwig catalogs in stock!

David!...

You were absolutely right focusing on the arm itself... that is indeed the piece in question. As I looked closer at the pic I noticed the mount/plate wasn't the modular series! Still... I do think that BR's tom arm here is a "protoype" of the eventual production model which was #3001... there are a lot of similarities! Again, that darn "Hercules Ratchet" is the missing link here!!

PS: Only drummers could discuss a piece of hardware for currently, 17 posts!! LOL!!

What are the chances for temporarily using the top piece of a cymbal stand?

Cutting both tubes? Do you think they are the same diameter?

Hey mcjnic do you have any photos of the parts you have? measurements?

Ok, cool, did I just do what I think I did!.... Great minds think a like, but I have three tops ;)

When I said cymbal stand I was thinking tom stand like in this photo holding the 6", 8" and 10" toms.

I have a bunch of the hardware... I might also have a boom cymbal stand that would work also as TommyP Sumo Dude stated... HurtingSorry TP!
