From DanC

Yes, those mid-late 70's hoops were not the best. After heavy use they usually are twisted like a pretzel. At least you were able to save those. Can't wait to see that kit up on it's feet....

Thank you!

My hoops have some twisting going on but not bad enough to give up on them. I have run out of money and work is not good right now so I am working with what I have. I think I will use some heads from other drums so I can at least get the set put together and play it.

Thank you!

Well I pulled some Remo pinstripes off another kit and bought a couple new Evans reso (clear) heads for the 12,13 toms. I used the Bass reso head that came with the set and the batter was an Evans Genera G2 that I had laying aroung for a while. The set is not finished, still waiting for my snare shell. Once I get that I will spray it and the concert toms to finish up the set. But for now here she is on here feet. I finished putting them together late Saturday night and have not played or tuned or anything yet, that will be todays project.

Its hard to get a good picture that shows the shine. Here are two pics of the floor tom, one with flash and one without.

And I must add how impressed I am with Rogers hardware. The toms have adjustability up the wazoo and they are Rock solid. Not to mention the legs on the bass drum, same thing. Good jobs Rogers, makes me want to look for more of your gear.

Sweet kit Jeff.

Enjoy it!

Have yo worked with Ebony veneer at all? I used it on headstocks rarely, but never tried to curve it much (very brittle).

Do you think it might work on drums as small at 10" diameter?

Jeff,

I am speechless sir! That is a spectacular finish and a great kit. If those shells could talk I bet they would say "THANK YOU!"

Thank you men! I moved them out to my shop and I must say the memriloc design is brilliant. The pinstripes sound pretty good without too much tuning allready. I will have fun playing around with the sound today. Finally, I have a whole day to do what I want. After I get my snare and concert toms finished I will be looking for another project. Might be time to sell something.
