Seems like every concert i see on TV or live there is another set of DW drums i loathe them as over priced and over hyped ... seems like some drummers would be still using vintage stuff . i know i do.. :)

I know what you mean....everyone seems to rave about DW....DW this DW that....well, I've heard them and I'm NOT impressed. The snares sound like a tin can...almost timbale like.

Its true that you can tell the difference between brands.....I know what Ludwig sounds like, I know what old Radio Kings sound like, I know what old Leedys sound like, I know what Gretsch sound like......I even know what a dynasonic sounds like on recordings.......these all sound good to my ear....DW....eh.....modern American made (is it any more though??) Pearl, Yamaha and Tama sound alikes if you ask me......plain old overpriced junk.

If DW is so great, why did longtime endorser Jason Bonham go BACK to Ludwig?? As a matter of fact why are a lot of former DW endorsers going elsewhere now? Quite a few have switched to Ludwig or Gretsch lately....Hmmmm

I am not famous and will never be...... but ..... this is what I bought instead of DW. And, these really are way cool.

As a long time Camco player, one of the only new drums I would consider is DW.

They held to the thin-shell with re-ring design while all others told us thicker plywood concrete forms were the way to go----kinda like the rush to front wheel drive in the auto industry. Cheaper to build. Good in some situations, but not for high performance.

Over-priced...YES!!!

Over-hyped...YES!!!

Innovative...YES!!!

Marketing genius...YES!!!

Sound good for rock? YES!!!

For everyone? NO!!!

The reason you see them everywhere is because they know how to get their name out there and have built an incredible reputation. I'm not annoyed by it as much as I'm in awe of their business model. I say "good for them!"

...also, it keeps more eyes off of the vintage kits in the market!

1970 Ludwig Downbeat
1965 Ludwig Hollywood
1970 Ludwig Jazzette

I genuinely found the 1st two rants quite laughable, heres some easy facts for you 2 guys, first dw has one if not the largest artist endorsement list in the industry, they have 18 pages with 15 names listed per page, and at the top of the page is a guy name roger taylor, dave grohl, and shelia e, hey didn't mr. taylor endorse ludwigs forever,Hmmmm, and neil peart has used dw longer than ANY OTHER DRUM COMPANY, and jason bonham is still a dw pedal and hardware endorsee, and the reason jason went to ludwig is because dw doesn't make plastic drums??

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

Love 'em or hate them, they are tomorrows collectibles. In the 60s it was Ludwig. Since the 90s it's been DW.

I've liked the DWs that have passed through my house. They were well made and sounded great. I don't play them (or any new drums) because I've shifted to vintage a bit ago.

I believe Peart may have played slingerland or tama a bit longer ... Or have I been out of the modern drummer loop too long. We may be hitting that timeframe. 2010 already. Dang. Flying by.
