Luckily it's the easiest wrap to match. For what it's worth, I've got a Camco finishes sampler from the Oaklawn period (which I presume was made by Delmar) and some relatively recent samples from Precision Drum (also made by Delmar, I presume). The old one has an orange peel like texture and the modern one is smooth. That aside, they're to all intents and purposes identical.

Sounds good, it will be interesting to get a sample and give it a look. Think I will call Precision tomorrow and get that ball rolling. I have the bass drum assembled as far as I can go with original parts. I hate to put the non original parts back on but once I get a head for the bass drum I will want to play them. I know one thing for sure, that funky tom mount is not going back on!
Thank you!

I am still puzzled by what the tom mounting system was on this bass drum. I have looked at hundreds of pictures and my best guess is that it was a virgin bass. But look at the attachments, one with badge in center and one with badge near edge.
THe gold kit has a rail mount that is mounted on a plate. Is that something that was fabricated by a do it your selfer or can someone confirm that it is a stock Camco mount. Would not explain the big hole either, and that hole does look factory, as mentioned by one of the experts.
Oh well, due to unavailability of parts I am going towards filling those holes with a silver sparkle wrap and making it virgin again. Hope to get samples in the mail today.
Any difference in the new wrap's between manufactures?
Thank you!

Jeff keep up the good work~! Hey I looked at my sons house for that Camco tom mount and came up empty. Wish I could remember where the heck I saw it last. Hopefully it'll turn up in time.
So how you like the Camco's so far?
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.
Hey Glenn, thanks for looking! Dont worry about it too much. I am sad to report that I have not played them yet. I have been so busy with cabinets, family and our band. And I wanted to get them cleaned up and get some new heads, the ones that came with it were pretty bad. So, Im close, probably pick up some heads this weekend and get it tuned up, place the 12 on a snare stand. Plus, I have run out of room to set up kits, I need to take one down and have to decide between my Rogers and my SBP clubbies. But very soon I will play them, its driving me nuts! I sure like the silver sparkle, it must have aged somewhat because it looks kinda gold at times, in the right light. Pretty awesome wrap and in very good shape. These will be the last drums I ever sell for sure!
Thank you!

Well the sample came today, not even close. So don't know what I will do now. Possibly make a cover of some kind, or just forget it. I am not going to take wrap from under a lug and do more damage to the shell, besides that wouldn't match either due to the fading. People and their @#$(*&$*@(@) cordless drills!
Thank you!

Call Jack Lawton in PA. Describe what you're doing and find out if he has any matching vintage scraps available. Otherwise, he'll tell you the same thing I did... snag it from under a lug. You don't have to 'damage the shell' to grab a small patch of wrap from someplace (under a lug) that -no one- will ever see.
Call Jack. He may be able to help you out.
John
Thanks John for the advice!
Thank you!

Hey Jeff, you know that first bass drum of the three pics in your previous post is mine and it is the same bass drum in the pic I posted of my Camco's on this thread. I have since acquired correct hoops and Slingerlud provided me with some lugs, claws, and Trods to complete the bass drum. I just don't have them on the reso side where I stupidly 36 years ago installed Ludwig lugs. But, see if you can notice where I repaired the holes at the end of the Ludwig lugs. You can't even tell in the pic and barely can up close. I filled the holes with wood putty and left just a little indent at the top and capped them off with a little silver sparkle glue I got at the dollar store in one of those 3 packs of Silver, Gold, and Green sparkle glitter glue. It matched perfectly. I figured I could always drill the holes back out if need be. I am going to get those Camco lugs on that batter side of mine soon.
Thanks Tim, you are right the glitter worked very good, I never saw it and I have seen that picture several times while exploring the internet. I will give that a try! Thanks man!
Thank you!
