Dw Drums. What do Y'all think of them?

Loading...

Your right, but I love this forum and all you guys on here, so I just started this to learn more about DW's. There's a wealth of knowledge here. I dont care for any other forums at all. I feel at home here and so here ill be.

From Ludwig-dude

Oh, and DW drums are NOT vintage, so I don't think they really belong on THIS forum. There are other forums more appropriate for discussing them IMO. :pLoLoLoLo

I'm positive a Starclassic would sound as good or better.

Has anyone played the Starclassic B/B drums? They are killer! I had a 20/12/14/16 a few years back when they came out and they were amazing! I got em new for $1200. Ended up getting rid of them to pay some bills, but man....good drums. They blow EVERY dw kit I have played WAY out of the water and they are less than 1/3 the price.

I would say there is a good chance that it is not the "Drummers Choice" to play those kits.

I'm not in this fight. I just thought this was a bit odd. When one lumps and speculates, the reliability of the statement is reduced. Just a thought.

I've really had no issues with the drums themselves. Again, it was just the hardware I chose that was a bit too massive. My fault.

This has been a very odd read. DW is what it is. I'm not a fan of them, but I don't dislike them. The lugs are a bit too large for my tastes...but that's questionable, for sure ("are you gonna wear those shorts with that shirt?!")

I agree with LD...this is an odd place for this discussion. I don't know...maybe compare DW with Rogers, or something. Rogers made a name for themselves with those sharper bearing edges. DW has made a nice living building upon that. How do those two compare...soundwise?

This is totally a "Vintage Drum" discussion (though I definitely respect the opinion that it is off track).

IMO we are talking about how much better vintage drums sound than DW drums! Plus, DW is trying to cash in on the vintage drum market with their "Classic" series.

Anyone have any experience with these "Classic" drums? I could actually see them sounding good. Only problem is that the badges are ugly as sin!

Not exactly fair to compare modern to vintage though...kind of apples to oranges, even if you are referring to the XP8 shells......technically, late Rogers XP8s would be the same shells as early DWs...Keller....but I still don't think its a fair comparison.

A discussion like this belongs on DW's forum...do they even have one? :D or drummerworld's forum, or something like that. Thought we were all about vintage here guys?

You're right L-D.

I am done with this one.

Sorry if I offended anyone with my blabbering! I am just so passionate about old drums that sometimes I have to shoot my mouth off about companies like DW that I feel don't live up to their claims or status. Violin

Also...Poppy started it!!! Walking

Jk Poppy!

BTW, I just got flamed again in the other thread! This guy seems to think that I should bring "whatever re-wrapped vintage tubs I want, and I'll bring my DW's, then we'll see who wins!"

Umm....this IS a VINTAGE drum forum, soooo the VINTAGE drums will win EVERY time....LoLoLoLo

Well hell,

Maybe our fearless Moderator will start a new forum on here for "just drums".
