Well hell,Maybe our fearless Moderator will start a new forum on here for "just drums".

Mmmmm.....probably not, since this is a forum for vintage drums. He'll probably leave that to the other forums.

When one lumps and speculates, the reliability of the statement is reduced. Just a thought.

With all due respect...I am speaking from experience here. This is not speculation. I have been in many situations (and know many many drummers who have been in situations) where a show is filmed with the drummer on a dw kit when they would not have wanted to be seen playing one.

It happens. Backlined kits are part of the touring industry. It is not speculation or lumping.

Best Regards,

-Adam

Sorta Reminds me of Ringo Starr and Ludwig. After everyone saw Ringo playin Ludwigs, they had to have some. Sounds like DW are good at marketing then. You seem to have a grudge against DW. I sorta thought them being American made accounted for something.

poppy, when you got the solid shell dw, you didn't know what to expect, so you went in to this drum with, no preconceived opinion, you tuned it and played it, and liked it, , all of the detractors arguments can be placed right back at them, they copied everyone, well yeah so did everyone else, they have to many options, that maybe my favorite one, dw does have their own innovations, and no the aren't the end of all drums, they are a CUSTOM DRUM COMPANY so to do that you have 300 options, look my user name is vintagemore2000 if in case i kinda like vintage equipment! i have new so as not to destroy my vintage stuff, they are making these dw's everyday so i can get another set if need be, not any of the detractors has owned a kit. or spent any real time to voice there opinion, it's all hardware related, , poppy if you play a dw kit play one that is a modern version of what you play now, that's what my kit is 24" bass 14" tom, 16" and a 18" floor toms. and when it all comes down to it my favorite ludwig kit isn't wood at all it's stainless steel. I am a rock blues drummer and wear the title proudly and the dw's i have fill that bill when i need them to!

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

I was looking at my 1967 Ludwig catalog. A Hollywood kit with hardware and cymbals cost $728 in 1967. According to an inflation calculator that would be equivalent to $4,626,36 today. go figure! FYI

I wonder if there were any drum snobs back in the 60s who mocked "The Most Famous Name on Drums" stating that their Rolling Bombers were all they were ever going to play and that the Ludwigs were terrible drums with a lot of exposure... Laughing H

I can't wait 'til this whole DW "battle" is over so we can kiss and make up and move on... Kiss
