From Purdie Shuffle

Aaron - That kit is from the same era as Big Blue! I love it, calf heads give the kit a FAT sound that you can't get any other way. You're going to love playing them. The kit is coming out great so far, can't wait to see it all done and set up! The repair on the calf head of the 11" is an easy fix, a small calf patch and a little hide-glue should do the trick. Nice score man. Get yer butt to work!John

Hey Juanito! Glad you found the link on this post. I had a feeling you might enjoy it. Thanks for the tip on the calf head fix. It looks like a pencil hole, so it should be an easy fix. I had to borrow some hoop clips from that tom, so I'll be rockin' the 12" only for now.

Excellent work! If you ever want to sell or trade that 16" with cradle let me know. I have a similar kit 1940 Ludwig&Ludwig in Blk/Gold Duco; 26" 13" 14" and matching 6.5x14" SD Enjoy! :)

Man...you probably want my floor tom just as badly as I want your snare! I hope one day we can both find our missing pieces. Do you have any pics you can share?

I know we all love pics, so here is where I am as of today. I think I am still going to touch up the bass drum hoops, but we are all now back to duco! I still need to clean/polish the rail for the bass drum, too. Baby steps.

Are you kidding me!!! That thing looks fantastic, now I'm having sellers remorse:)

I'm sorry I keep forgetting to send you that beater, I'll try and remember to get it out you this week.

It looks f'king awesome just as she sits! Nice job bringing that one back. You're going to have fun playing it.

Best,

John

I'm really digging this kit Aaron, as it is my favorite duco finish and has flat Imperial lugs.

Hey Friends...latest update. I found the matching snare to my kit, thanks to a heads up from fellow VDF member Danny (aka GhostNotes)! It was on eBay and I won the auction yesterday. It just shipped today, so I'll have to clean it up when I get it and then I will post some pics of the kit as a whole in a week or so.

I also uncovered an old shield on the original bass drum reso head. The entire head was spray painted silver, but when I stripped the silver paint I found the shield. I may touch up the black paint...but either way...the shield stays. We've got mojo for days on this baby!
