While we're waiting on the bass and snare to be completed... here's some more (better) shots of the toms.

As you can see (and from Jeff's restoration threads,) the man does 1st class work! Your Rogers shells will be in good hands and you'll be really happy with the results. I am!

Got a question for you guys... tell me what you think.

I always hang my rack toms in a snare basket. I just don't like putting the torque and weight of a rack tom on my bass drums. Maybe it's all in my head, but I think it kills the bass drum. The question is; I have a period correct rail mount. I'd prefer to keep the bass drum a 'virgin', but the rail mount would be appropriate and kind of 'belong there' on top of the bass. It won't look bad, it's just that I'll never actually use it!

Conundrum... should I, or shouldn't I? I'm personally leaning strongly toward leaving it a virgin. If somebody can make a good/sound argument for adding the rail mount, I'm open to hearing it. I just can't think of a strong enough reason/argument for adding it myself. Your thoughts... ?

John first of all, thank you for your kind remarks about my finishing skills. The new pictures show a little better just how smooth and shinney the shells are, its hard to capture with a camera.

Stupid question, will the rail mount fit between the 10 lugs and be in proper position?

If so then, no, I still would not do it. Place the tom on the snare stand and play it for a while, you can always install the rail mount down the road. I think virgin bass drums are cool, dont know if there is any sound difference or not, but they look cool. And I like the positioning possabilities of the tom on the stand better.

Thank you!

Thank you very much. I would be happy to do them, but it will be a long time. I have a WFL kit here for FISHAA that I need to get done, and Johns jazz fest of course. And, I have sold a ton of work lately. But ya, eventually I can do them, send me a pm and we can talk price.

Thank you!

John leave the bass virgin. I feel like it kills the bass and hurts the tom too. You can always add it later, but you can't really take it away once it's there.

Great job JC. You have all of us thinking about what project to have you do for us!

The voting seems to be going in favor of leaving it a virgin. That's my thoughts about it too.

> Stupid question, will the rail mount fit between the 10 lugs and be in proper position?

Yes, it'll fit. The question is whether to install it or not.

You're preaching to the choir brother! I'm in agreement with you guys, I think it'll be better left as a virgin. It was my plan to have it be a virgin from the beginning. There were holes there for a rail mount originally that I had Jeff close up for me when he did the veneer job. I was just having second thoughts.

Thanks for the nudge... I'll leave it be as-is.
