Next step is are the cymbal stands, hi-hat and pedal, all of which now that I think of it were purchased from ebay subsequent to purchasing the kit.

Great idea with the plastic dip. I have a couple of old snare baskets missing the rubber protection. Sounds like a good solution, I will give it a try.

Great Job and a beautiful set. How much do you think you have in the restoration in just the drums excludeing the stands and pedals.

With a $75 purchase price plus your other parts for the tom mount parts,floor tom legs, heads, etc. has to be a great deal and good investment.

I was amazed that there was no response to the posting on my investment thus far...

I was shocked at the amount myself.

So I waited for a response.... none... and then today I said something must be wrong. So I went back to spreadsheet and sure enough, I found a a mistake.

After nearly two months of work and the holidays, I am able to get back to this restoration project.

I will pick up where I left off... with the cymbal stands.

The kit came with no cymbals or stands. Over the one year I have been the kit owner, I have accumulated six Samson II Floor Cymbal Stands, 48-0512, Description: Medium height cymbal stand featuring the solid Samson base with built-in tilter.

I found two and then four more. And I have accumulated two cymbals, a Sabian 18" B8 and a Sabian 22" HH Leopard Ride. My sweety brought home two others from the thrift store. Both are cracked but usable for now.

Just before starting to examine, clean and polish today, I was looking over ebay for newly listed items and saw a ROGERS Swivomatic Era Cymbal Arm Extension. Something clicked in my head. In an earlier post I had mentioned the oddities on the base drum (note 1st picture) and I realized I could try a Samson II cymbal tilter rod assembly in the mount slot. Eureka ! Its a perfect fit. Now I have the perfect location for a small splash which is most likely the original purpose. This discovery has made my day.

I then tried it in the Ludwig mount on the floor tom. Eureka ! Very nice fit.

This gives me the option of using the Samson II stands or mounting the cymbals onto the bass and floor tom.

Wow! That is quite a investment. But worth it if you can afford it. Almost every set I have picked up for a song I ended up at least tripleing my initial investment

in parts, heads, material, this, that. Those Londoner's drums look great though. I just saw this thread again today.

There is an identical ludwig mount on the bass drum as is on the floor tom. (See photo) I thought the purpose on the bass drum was pretty obvious and I purchased an l-arm on ebay advertised as a Rogers brand. (See photo) I have not been able to substantiate that it is in fact Rogers. And you might know what these go for... ch-ching. Its condition is excellent however, it is unfortunate that the location of the Ludwig mount is such that the arm itself is barely usable. The arms overall length is a little short on each side of the L and as a result has limited usable positioning. I am undecided about what to do about this. If I decide to sell it, I suspect I will get my money back out of the L-arm.
