Cleveland Rogers Surprise! (and-a-half!)

Loading...

Vibes - Thanks for the kind words of support. I took some more shots today, but I can't find the damn cable to connect my camera to the computer! I ordered a new one through Amazon so it should here be in a couple of days. I'll post up the shots as soon as I'm able.

Ok, I've been saving this for the end... as if finding this rare kit isn't enough of a score, --- I only paid $277.00 for the drum-kit.

You may kick yourself (as I often do) when somebody makes an out-of-this-world amazing score! LMAO Walking

Life can be good sometimes... look for finished photos soon. Thanks all for what was a fun thread for me to share.

great job on everything john. it really turned out wonderful. i think we may have all learned something from the citrus strip ordeal. i had always heard it was the safest. i am now telling people about the graffiti stuff. thats good info to know.

add this set to the list of some rare drums that you have somehow managed to come across. i think its great since you have such a passion for them.

the red inlay looks cool. my ludwig galaxy sparkle kit has the galaxy inlays. i'm always afraid they are gonna tear or rip. i too would go with one of the colors in my wrap to highlight them a bit if i replaced them.

enjoy that kit. the patchwork is very nice. gramps is good people for hooking you up with that.

Most times, the best lessons are learned the hard way!

Honest, I think I've become 'magnetized' for these kits! They really seem to 'come to me'. Some luck, some good drum karma and lots of hard research work looking for them on my part. Pays off.

Mike, I still have a piece of that stuff, more like a remnant, but if you ever need a patch, I have it. Scratch that, I'll just send it to you and if you ever need it, you'll have it right there. Instant patch!

I dedicated the restoration to Gary. Nice guy, generous drum brother. He represents what I love about these forums. There's the odd-jerk or three, but man, I have made some good friends and new acquaintances through participating these forums. Better than finding gold.

PM me about the piece of Galaxy wrap. I'll get it right out to you.

WoW!! Great job restoring your Rogers, they look awesome. You would never know they were painted. What brand of Graffiti remover did you use? I just was about to use the citrus stripper when I read your post on the damage that was done. I'm looking forward to more pics. Great job Man, Bowing

jomeli57 - The stuff I used is called: Motsenbocker's LIFT OFF 4. On the label it says; Spray Paint, Graffiti Remover. It comes in a white plastic spray bottle. I bought it at a local Lowe's store. I'm sure you can get it at Home Depot as well.

Here's a link:

Good stuff, it works!

Hey John, The 22 fl.oz spray bottle was enough to strip a 3 piece set?

Home Depot also has it. I can't wait to see how it works. Yes Sir

Thanks Man

More than enough for three pieces! Clean the shell, spray it on liberally and wait about 10/15 minutes. You'll see the paint layer crinkle-up. I used the rough side of a kitchen sponge to simply wipe the paint away. I couldn't believe how easy it came off. The wrap under the paint was unharmed by the spray. Not so with the Citistrip. The Citistrip actually partially melted the outer layers of the wrap on he 13".

Post a thread when you do your project. I'd like to see how yours comes out.
