Hey Tommy! This just keeps getting better...

I posted a response in your Ludwig thread. Very nice score indeed! Love the finish on em.

Well, add me to the list of confused new users looking for the intros forum. Looks like this thread has become the defacto introduction forum so here I am. I am a professional musician and long time drummer. I've recently taken to drum restoration and customization and figured I'd best jump in to the vintage drum community so...Hello everybody! Glad to be here!

Hi, m8's!

Glad to say hi and thanks for the wealth of info here!

I've been playing since 1963 (was 14 then). I started with an Olympic snare and kick with no-name cymbals. I still rehearse, gig in 2 bands and sub with my then brand new BMP 1964-65 Slingerland Gene Krupa Jazz model. The reason for 2 years is I added another bass and 13" tom in 1965 for a double bass set with a balanced rack tom look. I had a 20 year hiatus for going back to school, marriage, kids, etc. until 1992 when I was single again and determined to get my chops back.

I hope to contribute to the community and wish you all great deals and great drumming!

Hi I have just joined the forum and would like to say hello from the UK. :)

I have finally stopped gigging and hung up my sticks and hope to get some Idea from you guys, on if you think it's worth selling my kit.

Where would I post this sort of question on the forum?

Cheers dulux :)

Welcome and if you have a kit for sale... the For Sale section is the place. Post plenty of photos of the kit, helps sell them. Best of luck to you.

Seems a shame that you've hung up your sticks. I have gone for long periods without giging, but I never put down my sticks. I love playing drums way too much to go more than a day without playing.

Consider keeping your kit purely for your own pleasure. If you sell them and then find that you miss them... there's no getting them back sometimes. Give 'selling your drums' a second thought.

Purdie Shuffle

Thanks for the welcome

A spinal problem has stopped me from playing although it was all those years of Gigging and lifting the darn things that cause the problem in the first place.

I am the type of drummer who wants to get stuck in with other musicians and make music, feel the improvisations of Guitar, Keyboard and Brass players and alter or enhance your playing to fit in or hold together with what they are playing.

Sitting at home just playing around the kit doesn’t do it for me, there’s no one to drive or swap Ideas with.

Regards Paul

Hi to you all!!

Introducing yourself here? Ok, than i guess it's my turn :p

I'm Dennis, from Belgium (yeah, that is a full grown country lol)

and I'm 20 years old, so pobably the youngest member on here (correct me if I'm wrong).

I've been playing for 5 years now and discovered the true beauty of vintage kits (mainly mighty Ludwig :p) about a year ago. Been addicted since that day!!!

So in the search for my own little piece off drum history i recently ended up here!

And what a great place to be!!! Best forum ever Clapping Happy2

For the time being, I play a white '91 Ludwig Rockers I in a 12",16",22" set-up (same age I am :)) and a '71 B/O Supra!

I want to learn as much as I can about drums and I think this is the perfect place to start!! (and to end for that matter:p how could you ever leave this place ;))

Thank you all for having me!!

Greets

New Guy here! Guitar player (who isn't?) for 40+ yrs. Somewhat proficient with dobro, mandolin/'dola, fiddle, bass but nothing to brag about. Have had a bug up the wazoo for a small (trap?) kit for the last few years and knowing myself I think I'd like to get something on the older side.

Was looking at the classifieds and saw a couple members within an hours drive and would be much obliged for any advice or leads. Looking forward to picking your brains!! Mick
