I am new to all this, Can someone help with this question:

I am wondering how I go about tracing the history of a Gretsch Snare drum I have recently acquired.

Model # 4105 Serial # 14926

It is in pristine condition.

Pearl white finish, 6 lug, original snare throw off.

Thanks for any advice you can offer,

David White

Hello Everyone!

I've been on here since early july but just observing up till now. I'm a big collector of drums and have been collecting since I was 17 years old. I'm now 39. Collecting drums can be a blessing and curse at the same time. Unfortunately, I have to store a lot of my kits with cases in a huge climate controlled storage unit.

I'm happy to be a part of this Forum.

Cheers!

Hello everybody, my name is Victor, I'm 31 years old, I'm from Chile, South America and I'm a big fan of vintage gear. Unfortunately in my country is very difficult to find real vintage drumsets and drum parts, and also is quite expensive to import a vintage kit from the USA. I only have two kits, one is a modern Tama starclassic from the early 2000 and the other is a Premier APK from the early '90 (I guess, it has the long lugs). I love Premier's and one of my dreams is to play a '57' kit with those huge floor toms! Maybe some day, you'll never know... but by the way I have one question for you experts: One guy (in my city) is selling a Premier kit from the late '90, it's a Cabria Lacquer series, and he's asking just a few bucks for the kit, but I have some serious doubts about the finish, because in the pictures it seems to be not the original finish... I don't remember Premier made kits in this kind of blue finish... maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm not... so let me know what do you think about it. I hope someone give me an answer... this is my first post here and it suppose to be my introduction to you!!! my natural languaje is spanish, so it's hard to write in english, I hope you understand if I made some mistakes, but drumming is an universal language and is the subject that made all of us come here to talk about this feeling!!! Once again see the pictures and give some help! See ya later alligator!

Victor, first off welcome to the forum. the kit your asking about is factory, I had a bud with this same color kit, you stated he's selling it cheap, go buy it. and your english is just fine sir.Yes Sir

Thanks for the 'wellcoming' vintagemore2000... I was wondering about that finish because I never seen it before, but if you say it's original... Ok, I'm think i'm gonna buy it. This kit needs a little care, new heads and an owner to put some grooves on it! Maybe then I can post some restauration working to see the 'before/after' process... Once again, thanks for you answer and I'll try to keep improving my english hehehehe. Cheers!

I was looking for the introduction post as well so i guess this is the place.

I am an experienced studio/session drummer who hails from a small town in Whiteville North Carolina. I have studied percussion at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and also was a member of the Spirit of the Carolina’s marching band. I studied drum set under the famous “Pat Petrillo”, and studied private percussion under Tracy Wiggins. I am an inductee of The Christain Drummers Hall of Fame and endorse UNIGRIP sticks and grips. I have played, and studied drums and percussion since the young age of eight. I have been teaching drum and percussion lessons since 2003 and I coach drumlines at three of the local high schools.

I have been collecting drum catalogs since the 90's and I figured that this place would be great to get some insight and information from.

Howdy - Old drummer, new to the forum. Drums are pretty much my life right now. I buy, sell and trade in vintage drums. I love to restore old kits and I have some photos to share. I see some old friends here so I'm sure I'll be right at home.
