I ran into a pretty big snag yesterday. I was installing the badges on all the drums when i came to the bass drum. I had already installed the tom holder bracket. The vent hole was so close to the tom holder and there wasnt enough room for the badge. I was stressing about this, because i have already wrapped the drum. I could have plugged that hole and drillled a new hole during shell restoration, Here's what I did. I plugged the hole. I made a plug the just fit. I didnt want to be grinding and sanding on the plug in the brand new wrap and fresh interior. I taped over the hole on the wrap side, squirted exopy in the hole and inserted my plug. Wile the exopy was setting up and had got semi hard. I scraped off the excess with my fingernail. when it was all dry i painted over it with the Plasti-Kote stone paint. You cant even see where the old hole was on the inside. Next i positioned the badge to cover the plugged hole and drilled the new hole and installed the grommett over the repaired hole. You cant tell there was a hole there either. When I got this kit it had a tom tree in a box, it looked similar but I guess it was the original standard tom tree and someone had replaced it with a classic tree. Sooooo if you ever plan to convert standards to classic, remember to check your grommet hole location on the bass drum. I didnt take any pics of this because I was so stressed and mad at myself, but i just want anyone that may do this to know.

OK Y'all I have all the hardware back on and the heads. havent tuned any yet. All I lack is the bass drum hoops. Should I paint them black and install the inlay or a natural finish and install the inlays?

Decisions, decisions!!!! x-mas3

IMO, paint them glossy black with the inlay.

Once I had seen how the Natural hoops looked with the lighter Citrus Mod wrap, the choice was made. The clear satin finish on natural maple is very complementary....at least to me.

That is one nice looking kit!! I still prefer the glossy black with the inlay.

To me the natural doesn't let the kit stand out as much if you know what i mean. It is a cool wrap though!!

Here is a closer look at the natural against the Citrus Mod wrap.

Ok Y'all,

I got my wood hoops all stripped, sanded, and primed. letting them dry, then i'm gonna inspect them and do a little more sanding and prime them again, then wet sand and paint them babies. Then install the inlays. I choose glossy black laquer.

I will have one more task after these are done. The Tom Tree. I have several out in the garage. ill pick a good one and shine it up and put the bass drum heads on tune everything and beat the hell outta them!! Excited
