The Biggest Drum Set You have played

Loading...

My first kit was kind of a weird combo. It was a "Bonham" kit and a set of the Octa-Plus concert toms. I bought a 2nd bass drum to round it out and quickly grew tired of having to move it; eventually scaled the kit back in size to a 2x2x2 (sometimes 2x2x1) kit ala Tommy Aldrich/Cozy Powell. However, It was cool doing the Niel fills ... just loved like the crack of those 6" & 8".

jonrpick,

I just love the sheer audacity of that BD of yours..... I can see the conversation now when guitarists are bragging about their rigs, "Double stack Marshall... ahhh yea OK.... I got an antidote for that, and you may want to consider double stackin' your double stack!" Or, "Say hello to my little friend."

Restored & played these Phaser 11s. Suspended toms, especially the 16" sounds sweet, but all are a pain to gig with. TOM

I swear I was seeing spots a few seconds after staring at your kit. Wow! That's a nice piece.

I used to play something like this, except it had around 57 less drums and 148 less cymbals. Seriously, nice pics you guys are posting. I lile JRP's mongo BD. Too cool.

Well, I've already posted some info and a pic or two of a Premier I used to play, so I won't repeat that here. It was a double bass, twin uppers and lowers with a couple of snares, some Slingy cutaways, and a complete Simmons kit (bass mounted above my head). That one was fun.

In Florida, I had a sweet Yamaha RTC with a slew of cymbals (averaged 30 - stupid, I know), latin drums, several snares, some Stingray custom cutaways, and lots of other things to hit. I was shedding while working out of a couple of studios and teaching at Resurrection Drums.

The other picture is my New York touring rig. It was my last large kit. It's a Pearl Masters Mahogany Classic Ltd Ed. It ran 22, 8, 10, 12, 14f, 16f, (13 and 18f on some gigs), Yamaha Recording Custom snare, Trick Alum snare. There was a variety of cymbals - Paiste Sound Formula, Sabian, and one lone Zildjian K China. I don't plan on running a large kit ever again.

I prefer a simple small kit these days. I've grown to love the tight feel it can bring.
