Worst Gig Experience Ever

From Sonorforlife2000

I I drive around back, and I see the rest of my bad gathered and talking in the corner. I get out, and see a flatbed tow truck. This turns out to be our stage. A 28 foot long, 8 foot wide, flatbed tow truck.

I fully admit to being weird... but that sounds like it could be used as a great stage! Shame the power was a joke

Sonorforlife, why is it that it seems many benefit gigs are always a bit on the janky side? After all, I have heard many tales much like yours when it came to benefit concerts...

Not that I wouldn't do one (especially if I believe in the cause), but I will prepare for a rough time if called to do one.

Yeah- I'm THAT guy!!!

I wouldn't knowingly seek out a gig at a biker bar, but I've had good luck when I've played at some.

We played quite a few shows at a place called Mr. Brown's in Columbus, Ohio, in 1981 and 1982 (it's long gone as part of gentrification attempts near the Ohio State campus). The regulars apparently approved of us because whenever an errant frat boy heckled us, he was immediately shown the door with extreme prejudice. Good times.

I don't know that many bikers, but I found that particular group to be some of the sweetest people I've ever met.

They are! Right up until the moment you add alcohol to the mix... then it can get touch and go! lol

Great tale of woe, Sonor. I feel you bro. Thanks for sharing it.

John
