Where is introduction part of forum?

I don't think there'd be a problem - I've used Titebond II a lot and can't picture it not working.

Titebond does make hide glue though, and I'd probably use that. It comes in a brown container and I was surprised how well it worked. I thought it would be lightweight but wasn't, plus it's honey colored so that usually looks right.

I got my Titebond Hide glue at a place called Woodcraft, I think they're a chain of stores. But the other Titebond types are great products too.

Howdy folks. Redfern here from over at the other drumforum.org. At the suggestion of a member, I'm here and glad to be a part of this forum as well.

How did I miss this forum in Google searches, I dunno???

Thanks for having me and I look forward to learning more and hopefully sharing some of my knowledge as well.

Ok, finally found the damned introduction area. My name is Marc, I'm from the other drum forum as well. I've used this forum as a resource many times, and I see a lot of familiar names on here. Glad to be expanding my horizons.

Thanks,

Marc

Al here, a sloppy rocker for more than 30 years.

My first kit was a 1977 Slingerland 13-14-15-16-18-24 white concert tom set. It was used, but the price was right.

They weren't vintage in 1982, so I had the following work done then: The music I was playing didn't call for endless Keith Moon rolls (unfortunately), so I took the 14 and 15 off their stands, had bottom bearing edges cut and heads installed, and had a Tama center mount installed for them on the bass drum. This oversized rock kit served me well for many years. The 13 and 16 are lost to the sands of time.

Although I played it practically every day, jobs I had from about 1990 to 2000 kept me from gigging. When I got a day job in 2000 and was able to play with people again, I found that my kit was too large to fit most small bars. I found a sweet used set of red fusion-sized Yamaha RCs, which I've been using ever since.

I kept the Slingerlands until 2006, when I drove them to New Orleans along with a bunch of other instruments I collected to donate to musicians who lost their gear in Katrina.

I love my Yamahas, but I'm thinking of getting a second kit and would love to get some old-school Slingerlands to relive my youth.

Hi all. I didn't know this thread existed. I haven't been a member very long, but I stumbled on this sight and got hooked. I have very much enjoyed reading about old drums. I was in marching band in high school back in the 70s. Never played drumset so at 50 I decided I wanted to go back and learn that. Kinda like unfinished business. In the short time I've been on this site, I have learned so much from you guys on what to look for in vintage drums. Very cool stuff. So much of them are just beautiful works of art. True craftsmanship. I can't tell you how many quality snares I passed on as a teenager because they were old. I, like many kids wanted only new stuff. "Youth is wasted on the young".
