Where is introduction part of forum?

Hi everyone! I'm new here, I found this forum when looking for info on 60s-70s Ludwig marching snare hardware.

I purchased a cheap, used 1960s blue sparkle Ludwig kit through the newspaper classifieds when I was a teenager, and I'm still playing it 20 years later. I never felt the urge to buy something newer or flashier, but I have bought a couple similarly-aged and wrapped drums to augment my kit:

a 1960s Rogers 20" bass drum (it's not Ludwig, but we adopted it into the family anyways);

and the aforementioned late 60s(?) 10x14 Ludwig marching snare.

I picked up both of these drum shells cheap on Ebay, and have had some adventures (and misadventures) finding the right hardware to make them playable. They aren't pretty, but they work...

Looking forward to hanging out here!

Hello All:

I started playing back in the Hair Metal days and I have a couple Tama power tom sets that I keep set up and play. I have had them both since the mid 80's.

Over the past year or so I have widened my interest in equipment and have picked up a few old drums ... mostly snares ... mostly Ludwigs ... lots of fun fixing them up.

So here I am looking to share information.

Hello Vintage Drum Forum! My name is Chris, I have been most usually a guitar player but started drums as a child prior to guitar. Recently I've decided to actually start acquiring/building my own drum set so I can practice for a few bands I am in. I play all sorts of instruments and love all kinds of music but most lately I've been really into earlier jazz sounds from the 20th century so I suppose here I am now interested in vintage drums.

Peace and progress!

Hello vintage drum forum, I too was looking for an intro page, i guess this it. my name is chuck and ive been playing since the 70s. I have a champagne sparkle 66 ludwig jazz set, and a couple of 13" and 14" ludwig copper toms. I will try to find the right area to post a question regarding these toms. Look forward to talking to some of you. Best Regards,

Hello All,

Thanks for having me!

Just pulled my Slingerland Radio King kit from storage after 35 years. Had a house fire. The shells were refinished and all the hardware went in coffee cans. Got everything back together. Took awhile to sort the bits :-).

Tried a test with a rock tumbler (walnut shell medium) on some hardware and it came out great. Kit is now coming back apart for tumbling, but worth the effort.

Things are always easier the second time.

Looks like attaching pics will take some reading.

Thanks!!

Ok... Let me jump in and say that I joined this site to find out everything I can about the Fibes drumkit I purchased four years ago. They have Austin tags, are made of wood ( I am trying to determine WHICH wood), and have only recently caught my fancy once again. I'd like to learn everything I can about them, as well as everything I can about using this site to that end. If you read this and have suggestions, don't be shy... I have NO idea how to navigate through these forums!!! (1/29/13)

Welcome to the forum! Just been sorting this myself. The titles in orange at the top of the screen are resource pages. For the most part just read only. Great info.

To post questions log into vintagedrumforum.com and double click vintage Drum Forum this should get you the list of subsections. Click on the desired area and post your questions.

Hope this helps.

Hi everyone.

I'm Phil, I work as a stagehand, audio/lighting/backline tech at the NJ Shore.

Recently caught the vintage bug and restored my first kit, a late 70's Slingerland Super Rock.

(which will be available for rental shortly)

Just finished (except heads) and I'm already looking for the next project.
