Hi guys, just found this board, I started playing when I was in grade school band and on and off through the years, probably more off than on. Currently rocking a Premier Royale 5 piece set with Zildjian K's and A's. Glad to be here and hope to contribute something.

Hello All!!!

My first post.

It's nice there are forums and sites just for all of us head beaters! LOL

I have a 10pc Vintage Yamaha Concert 9000 Series that is the best kit I've ever owned. Not looking forward to parting with it. :-(

Glad I found this site on Google Search though.

Well here tiz! I found the hidden link to say Howdy to my new Vintage Drum Forum friends.

'Nuther Newbie here as well. . . I've been collecting, refurbishing and playing

vintage drums for over 20 years. Recently I decided to downsize my drum hoarding and was able to find good homes for a lot of nice instruments.

Of course I kept some stuff. I have a favorite early 60's Rogers Dynasonic COB snare that I have been meaning to convert via a nice keller shell to a wooden Dynasonic since they are too pricey to buy an original. ?? Still incubating that idea.

Back in '63 I saw a picture of a color of pearl that was new to me. The drummer

for the Bob Scoby Dixieland band had a double bass set of what I would find was being called "Black Oyster Pearl" and that was for me. I traded in my old Rogers BDP set and ordered me some Ludwigs. A 20" bass, 2 8x12 "ride" toms

( they only offered them with matching sizes at the time, I dunno?) and a 16 inch Floor tom. I already had a nice chrome supraphonic snare so I was set (If only I had ordered the BOP maple snare I would probably be a happier man today ) ha Also this was before Ringo brought his BOP kit to eyes of the world.

I placed the order with my local music store in late Oct. and on Nov. 22 the owner called and said for me to Come on Down! I rushed down just as the

day turned bittersweet. My beautiful drums were here but everywhere on the news was the sad report of our beloved President kennedy had been shot and

wasn't expected to live. November 22, 1963, another day that will "live in Infamy"

I've kept my "Kennedy Drums" all these years. I've hauled them all over the country, played all kinds of music in all sort of venues and still play them today.

I turned my grandson onto to drumming and he is playing on them as well.

Thanks for having a forum where we can all share our stories and our interests.

Hello everyone.

First post.

Joined this forum to hopefully gain insight, find help and locate parts for restoring a rather large lot of blue Vistalites that I got in a trade about 10 years ago. My Google-Fu is strong and I have learned a lot about these drums since deciding to do this, but would seriously benefit from this type of community. Not to mention, ironically enough, most of my searches have resulted in the most valuable information being gathered from posts and links within posts that I found here.

I can't wait to move forward in this project and hopefully meet some other Vistalite owners/collectors along the way.

Hello !

I´m a new member from Sweden and a guitar player with a taste for drums. I have an old japanese Star set from mid sixties that I got second hand around - 74-75. It was sold to a young relative who kept it for a couple of years, but now a got it back in my basement. It´s in beautuful Fibre Gold Pearl wrap with a metal snare.

Now I´m on the hunt for a tension rod for the floor tom - not so easy because of the odd dimension. UNF 3/16 " - 32 TPI I belive ? /Claggen

Hello! Really hard to find someplace to introduce yourself here!

Well, I'm from Brazil, been playing for about 6 years, love old jazz-ragtime-dixieland and that stuff. And really love drumming.

Last month I was looking for a new snare, for starting a new and better set up that would give me the sound I love so much. Bought a WFL Pioneer (a member here helped me identifying it) and it's so good.

Now I'm looking for the rest of the set, posted on the "Wanted to Buy" section and I'm waiting.

The hard part is that I don't have the ease as you guys in USA, there's no garage sells in here, no craigslist, no good catch for me. Hope some good soul help me finding some drums, for a little and fun repair, don't mind having a frankenstein set for a start.

Thanks,

Luana.

Hello, I would like to introduce myself to the forum. I have owned a drum shop and have been the drum guy in Bellingham Washington for over 10 years now.

I have had the pleasure of repairing, buying and selling many vintage drums over the years. I enjoy sharing stories and drums with others that are collectors. Dealers. I still have a nice selection of vintage drums. One set that I am really proud of finding is a 1942 Slingerland Rolling Bomber. I will post pics soon. Thanks, I look forward to sharing with everyone.
