That's quite an orphanage you got there dude. Not married? Yeah, don't seem to be too many stray MIJ floor toms floating around. Lots of matching kick+rack combos though, huh?

Wow... that's quite a "wish list."

Interesting, as I've run into the same problem a couple of times... a BD, snare, and tom with no floor tom. Obviously they sold a lot of sets that way.

Although not a MIJ set, but my very first set was like that.

Good luck!

Hello Billnvick, I only have one kit confirmed by the original owner

that it came from the store without a floor tom

that would be some orange sparkle Star drums

I suppose it was a buying decision

most likely made by little Johnny babyboomer's folks at Christmastime.

"Should we go for the four piece??

or get him the three piece for now

and then those rockem' sockem' robots we wants ??? hmmmmm?

That is some collection. As mentioned, a lot of kits sold as a three piece. I remember them well in the Sears, JC Penny or Montgomery Ward catalogs.

Hello tnsquint

Yes indeed I too remember those kits in the three piece config

Yesterday I bought a three piece Whitehall kit in Black Diamond pearl

with a second bdp snare drum

I thought at point of sale that this second snare drum was just a no badger it came with a stand with an attachment cymbal arm and cheap brass cymbal (these were in the catalog too )

In fact, I can remember my older brother getting one of these snare and cymbal setups for Christmas way back when

Anyway I left that snare in the car

and dove right in with disassembly on the whitehalls

Later in the evening I took the other snare out of the car

And found it was actually a Zim Gar six lugger with the rectangular black and gold badge.

This drum needs only some new wires to be complete

But It may end up as a donor drum in favor of a root beer/tiger eye Zim Gar snare shell which needs everything save for lugs and bottom hoop

And just as you may think thread drift

The badge I will use on a pearl 7 lug tiger eye floor tom I found to match the other three Zim shells (a little rough on the reso side) and needs 7 hole ss hoops

But again as I was buying the Whitehalls I had no Idea the other snare was wearing a much needed a Zim Gar badge

Hello I drum for fun

thank You first for your reply and also for the link

I have two Tempro projects (round badge)

And neither of them in that very cool color wrap

also that drum looks to be just a tad newer vintage than my stuff

But I sure appreciate the heads up

Of course with my track record sometime down the line

I most likely will find a matching bass/tom combo

And then I will need the darned thing then GRRRRRR!!!! Thanks ..Kenny
