wanted Star parts

Loading...

Having recently acquired a Star kit in need of restoration I'm in need of the following (at least - will know more when kit arrives):

-924 style lugs will need probably six (maybe more)

- bass drums spurs

- one bass drum claw and tension rod

- tension rods for both floor and ride toms

If anyone has parts to part with, please get in touch. Thanks.

-Doug

Here is a couple of pictures of what I'm looking for (to be added to):

First and second is the cymbal mount for the bass drum. I have the triangle and bottom portion of this mount. Need to top portion(s). The next pic shows a kit with the complete cymbal mount.

Next is a picture of the lugs I'm missing. I may have already procured these.

Last is the bass drum, I need one claw and tension rod for this drum.

Thanks,

-Doug

Hi, Doug,

I have a similar kit (Drum Gallery, Star Set in Turquoise or something like that. Ralf posted it for me). I don't think you will have any problem with the lugs or bass hardware. There were 16 lugs for sale last week on ebay. The cymbal arm piece is going to be tough though. I have been looking for one for years. Somewhere there is a thread about this elusive item. Best of luck, Doug. Beautiful set!

Thanks Brian!

It seems I may (key word) have already gotten the lugs I need. I tend not to count my chickens until they're hatched. So, yeah I think you're right.

If I could see a detailed picture of one (apart, together, all pieces) I could probably have one made here at work. But, finding one would be soooo sweet. I can imagine it's a bit of the holy grail thing for these kits.

The good news is that not having the cymbal mount won't keep me from restoring and playing this kit. I cannot wait!

All the best,

-Doug

Doug, you are right about the mount! There IS a picture somewhere here on the Forum of one. It is fairly large as I recall. Man, if you could fabricate one, I'd be first in line to buy it! The lugs you are looking for come in two distinct styles. On some, there is a very slight rim around the bottom. On others, no rim. My tom on the original 1971-72 kit had the rim on the lugs. When I puchased a second tom, the lugs were rimless. I'm sure they were only a year or two apart in manufacture. About two weeks ago, I purchased enough lugs to convert the first tom to rimless, just to be consistant. This is just a very small detail while trying to restore these old Stars. Please let me know how you do. I will look for parts for you as well. I really don't need anymore, at least according to my wife!

Does anyone have a good photo of the cymbal arm? I'm not certain if it's the same as one I saw at a shop recently, but it sure looks similar.

Hi, Doug:

I know what you are going through in your quest. Believe me, I've been there! I promised to help and I will continue to do so. The gentleman from whom I recently purchsed 12 of the lugs had sixteen more for sale, probably within the last two weeks. I checked ebay (They were listed as "16 Star lugs") but, they were gone. Sold? Puilled off? The seller's ebay handle is subgrade16. He's from Wichita Falls, Texas. Maybe you could contact him by way of punching in his name in ebay. I know that he had other items for sale. Who knows? Maybe he might have more parts. I'll continue to look around, Doug.

Hi Brian,

Don't know how I missed this post, i've been obsessively checking.

Thanks so much for your interest in this project, muchly appreciated. I now have all the lugs needed to complete the drums.

I will peek around ebay and look for that user's sales. Great info!

One more part needed to complete the floor tom is the muffler. The picture that is attached is on the 13" tom and is complete. All I have on the floor tom is the triangle base (need the knurled round knob, and the chrome-over-plastic quick throw off). If anyone has a lead on one or better yet HAS one, that would be slick. Let me know.

Regards,

-Doug

Hi all - still trying to locate a muffler for the floor tom.

Also, the aforementioned cymbal mount assembly.

Got lugs on the way. Moving along ...
