My goodness, you win the prize for biggest transformation. Excellent, patient work. Now - how do they sound?

Thanks Gents.

I don't know how they sound yet, finished up too late to bang on 'em last night!

also I have never done a full kit in Aquarians before, so I gotta mess with it a bit.

What a great kit. Hope they sound as good as they look! Questlove was playing a set of those, just before he went Ludwig.......

That is an amazing transformation.

Currently my first set ever 1983 Pearl Export original owner. 2008 Grestch Catalina Maple, and a 1970 Star kit. Many snares including a big R Dynasonic.
Previous Rogers Holiday 12, 16, 20 and powertone snare.
Premier apk and Premier Cabria kits.

been meaning to update this thread - have gigged this kit a few times & it sounds fantastic - so much so that the one guy I sit in with turned around & asked me to record a Motown cover with him in the middle of a set because the bass drum sounded so good, lol.

here it is on 1 gig

and I just picked up a NOS metal snare for it for under 2 bills. I think Faust music must've had some that had never sold someone was holding onto because I just saw another one in the exact same condition sell for over 400. - original unplayed heads & wires.

That makes this kit a D-18 I believe.

Great kit! You really brought those back from the brink.

That snare looks amazing. Does it have the snare adjustment at both ends?

yes, the snare is pristine.

the adjustable butt looks kinda like a Ludwig p83 without an arm - cool engineering.

That looks brilliant. I really want to get a hold of one of these kits, but they're rare out here. I've got a similar kit from the C-200 series in Red Thunder with the matching snare. Unfortunately somebody decided to move the rail mount to the middle at some stage, then moved it back, and the snare drum has a new throw off switch, which means there's a big hole underneath it where the original. It's missing all the badges too.

Other than that it's a real nice sounding kit. I originally had a coated Emperor on the 20" bass drum but it sounded awful. Now I've switched to a coated Ambassador and it sounds brilliant, only one felt strip on the batter side and it sounds so good.
