Gee, I was skeptical when you described what you were trying to do with the rims (paint) but they turned out great! Nice job. I wonder if it would work as well with a chromish color?

quick update - new hoops for the 12/14 are in; bass hoops done, inlay back in. All lugs & hardware are done - just gotta get some lugs to replace the most pitted, rods for the floor tom res side & a few more small things (there will be pitted but shiny lugs on this kit - I divide into Astock/Bstock/C=replace if possible - way more B&Cs than As on this kit).
I imagine I'll be reassembling & hitting these in a week or 3.
Here's a pic of the naked shells - really beautiful wrap, the blue is dark navy until the light hits it & it "lights up."

not too concerned about finding the snare - on the lookout & if I do great, but I am not into paying premium for one.
Looking good. This is going to be one smart looking kit.
Thanks! Starting to go back together. Really just waiting on some replacement lugs & heads.

The guy with the black willow snare on eBay finally got a little realistic. He had it listed for 599. for awhile, now it's down to $199 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-5-x-14-Snare-Drum-Pearloid-8-lug-Made-in-Japan-NICE-/321261888822?hash=item4accb36536

My goodness those are some gorgeous Yammies! I have a soft spot in my heart for Yammies. I gigged them on the Warped Tour many years ago. At the time they were the best drums I had ever owned.

6topher, What did you use on the chrome, specifically the lugs. They look amazing! Rich.
thanks guys, just finished!
There are some pieces & parts I will keep an eye out for to replace but she's ready to go. I also like to replace the spade with a L arm & use a RIMS mount on the ride tom - makes it way more gigable for me.
Rich, I use simichrome polish. I get it from amazon, it is the best thing I've found.
Here's the original craigslist pic that had me hop in the car with my 8yr old & drive for 2 1/2 hours on a Saturday morning. On a whim really after I came across a thread by richm on another forum about it & I had a wad of cash in my pocket from a good gig the night before.
