:D I re-read the entire thread myself the other day and if you're into vintage drums, it -is- a good read. I think the number of photos documenting the progress is what helped to make it a fun read.

If anybody does a restoration thread, include lots of photos! It really helps to bring the thread to life. I know I love seeing lots of photos when guys are working on cool, old kits. It's a good formula... respond to the people who comment and ask questions, include a good narrative of what you're doing, and lots and lots of photos. Winning combination every time.

Thanks for the kind comments...

John

For me, this thread is historic. Never saw a vintage drum set from the early twentieth century look so great. Your photo's made it feel like we forum members were looking right over your shoulder. Awesome restoration.

Hey Bucks County! I'm in Berks, right next door! Welcome to the party and thanks for the compliment. It was a ton of fun for me to do the job. Not a single second of it felt like 'work.'

Like a 10 year-old kid engrossed in building a model with his tongue sticking out of the corner of his mouth as he concentrates is more like it... :p

Lights arrived! Backdrop due Monday, photos to follow.

Everybody have a great week-end. I'm going downstairs to wail on Big Blue for a bit...

Just awesome!!! The true fruit of the labor of any drum restoration project is being able to play them! Enjoy and swing for the fences!

IT'S A ROCK KIT!

Deep, loud, HEAVY bottom-end. I haven't had this much fun with a set of drums in years. I play 1-up, 1-down and I'm happy with the set-up. Having this many drums to play all at once is a novelty and a blast for me. Descending tom runs on this Oomph-machine is a thing of beauty, a treat for the ears. The intervals between the toms is perfect. Awesome spread.

It's a little bit of a trip from the 13" rack tom 'over Mt. Bluevius' to the 14" floor tom, but I'll make whatever adjustment I have to make and I'll get used to the new set-up and where the drums are. In the meantime... I'm having a blast playing them. They really sound good. Warm, FAT, loud, all the things you'd want in a drum set. If Hitler had had Mt. Bluevius to blow us away with, we'd all be speaking German today! :D

The kit is made for Rock & Roll, but Nee-Awlins Second-Line grooves sound like there's a whole drum corp. coming down the street! Great drums!

Hang in there just a little longer... final photos as soon as I can.
