Trixon project

Hi. Thanks so much for the detailed help! I may go down the standard 20" route, because they do seem to fit. As for the 16", I'd ordinarily hate to go shaving away at a vintage drum, but as someone's already done it to the batter end, it's an option I suppose. I may hold off for a bit and see if I can find a bargain vintage 16!

Well, here it is!

As you can see, I've added a couple of modern touches, but the best part is using the extra old tom the seller gave me as a spare. It's a 13" too, but I only needed one lug to complete and had the spare wrap to use.

Hardware was in good shape, save for on the spare drum, but soaking the lugs in cola overnight worked a treat!

I ended up planning down the other end of the floor tomdrum, seeing that it was already devalued! I think Trixon Floor toms had a bigger diameter than pre-international heads for example. I paid quite a bit for a head only to find that, though bigger, it still didn't fit.

Sound-wise it's nice - the bass drum especially, as though 20" it's 18" deep, so a proper little cannon!
