Tama Swingstar - Restoration Project

Very nice job! I'm actually putting a kit together out of bits basically, but the main items are the toms, Tama Imperial Star 12" and 14". A bit knocked about, but they scrub up pretty good. You've done brilliantly with those lugs.

I don't know about anyone else, but I find polishing lugs quite therapeutic. Just sitting down in front of the telly with a cold beer and a pile of dirty lugs. Makes it sound a bit lurid, now that I write it out loud...

Sure it is. I did this last night, after a working day.

It's an anti stress therapy :)

Whoa! Let me just put my sunglasses on...ah, that's better! Fantastic job. What was on telly? Must've been pretty involved.

Thanks. I used a silver cleaner cotton that comes in a small can. You can see a piece of the cotton in last picture.

It's good to take off stains and protect the silver, it has an antioxidant effect.

I use it to clean an polish the chrome, with good results.

The name is different in my country, but the can it's similar to this:

I've not seen Silvo as a cleaning cloth in a tin before. Mind you, I haven't been looking for it either, to be honest. I thought it was just the cleaning fluid in a bottle and you supplied your own cloth. Same with Brasso. You learn something everyday...

Hi. This kit was made in '82. I bought it to restore because many people say these kits have good sound and I was searching for a vintage kit with 22x14 kick. I was impressed by hitting the toms even with very old heads. This shells seem to be good.
