I did little cleaning of set,put some heads, unfortunately right now I can't put new heads on,those are some used Ambasadors on toms and floor and the original 20" head which came with the drum.I put Sonor snare I found couple of months ago, from same era.

FANTASTIC kit! I'm jealous................

Thats not the snare you first showed though,is it? That one looked 6-1/2 by 14......

Now,go put some 1960's Guess Who on,and jam along!

Garry had a kit like that...........

Blair,no it is not that snare. The snare which was with the set was 50's snare and it was pre international measurement, was 14 1/2"(37cm),and some of the previous owners done the most stupid thing ever!Could not find the heads,so he cut the shell and bent it a little bit down to 14",and did the same thing with hoops, cut, move out small piece.Total disaster! How ever,if this snare was ok,is there any chance to find those diameter today? Those any company make those,or you can just go to try a custom made calf heads? What is the price for those heads, snare and batter?

Dule, First of all nice set of Sonor's they cleaned up very good..If the 6x14 snare was not cut down and was a 14" metric head you can still get these from Remo it would take sometime to get them...Mikey

It`s cat. discription discribes ,...either tone control or either retractable or L arm cymbal holder, either inlay hoops, so the order appears customized !!

They`re really nice drums and the wrap is from earlier models too. The edges should be spoon bit 45 and 45 the other way on the outer layers, the heads should sit on one layer and I can`t understand why a 15" head wont fit on the 14.5" hoop flange, Have you tried ? Do they have floating heads ?

Gilnar:thank you!

Mikey@Odball:I did not try anything, when I was at sellers place.I saw that hoops are cut and small amount of steel was put out and then the hoop was welded, and snare was fit with 14" heads. And there was overlap in steel that shell was made of.So I don't know did he ever tried 15" head to fit.I find it on some Sonor cat.scans from 1957-58,but I don't know how to extract pic from PDF file,so I take a pic from comp.monitor.It is D425 model.I think I will call seller again and ask him for price for snare,as Calfskin stated before, even if it is nothing from snare, badge and lugs worth money
