Sonor teardrop drums-need help

Add for this drums just show up here in Serbia, with very small amount of information about drums. It is 12-13-16 toms,no diameter mentioned for bass drum, and no 12 on the pictures.Snare is 14.This is double tom mount set(12 and 13),because of central tom mount. From some Sonor catalogs it looks like end of 60's.Don't know are those bass drum hoops original or not, because there are some Sonor sets with metal bass drum hoops with matching inlays."Made in Germany" is on the badge.About snare drum,it looks like older, from different set, although I only found wood Sonor snare with this design.Sory for the bad pics, these are the only I get from add.He is asking about $450.

Please Sonor experts, put some light on this!

Thanks!

Grab that one in a heartbeat!

The snare is earlier then the set............not sure what year......1950's I'm thinking.................

When you get done polishing the shells, they will look like a million $$$..........

They sound very Gretsch like too!

Hi Dule.

BD hoops - not original, its must be wood manufact, these looks as often meet on Serbian "buy-sell" with other different BD & sets.

Also I strongly doubt on double toms for this model anf on FT leg's brackets.

Snare - you're right, it's not from this set.

It seems that price is too-o-o expansive...

George.

They are only around $100 per drum.......thats too expensive?

The snare is very rare........prolly worth $200-300 alone,I would think.........maybe more.

BTW........thats the cool thing about these Sonors............they used the same mounts for the single and double toms........

You can see the factory cymbal mount,so yes, this was not a double tom kit from the factory......

Someone bought the arm for the second tom,but didn't use it.

I don't think there are extra holes..........

If this was on Evilbay with a BIN of $450..........it would sell very, very fast!

Yep, if you have the cash to spare this will make a great kit.

Thanks for your replays.

Father 42:I found some similar double tom holder on Sonor catalog pages, from 1969.It lokks like it can be this on the left.Z5502b.As far as price,I know it is not too high maybe for some of you guys, but here in Serbia average wage is abot 400-450$ for month. But I will not give up,I hope I could find some money in the next couple of days.Hope the *** will not sell it meanwhile

That looks like a very nice kit, and the bass is probably a 20", as many of their bass drums were. I would offer him 375, explaining to him you will have many hours of cleaning, detailing and likely some parts to buy in order to get it back to perfect....I know that is a lot of money for you, but that is an investment, not a toy. Those are nice drums, 3 ply birch, beech, maple? What did they use in the early 60s?

i think it is a very good price as long as there is no shipping involved; that can really put a spin on things.

the snare predates 1959 and as Blairn says is worth a bit in itself. one of those badges, went for around 75.00 alone on ebay.de last week. i would grab it if at all possible, you won't be disappointed, except about not having the money anymore.

The problem with these Sonor kits in the states is if you have to chase down hardware, like spurs, rims tom holders etc, then it can get expensive and time consuming,a 500.00 dollar kit can turn into a 900.00 kit real quick, but that kit looks pretty together, and ready to play, with the exception of a claw and t rod missing from the Bass, and the cymbal arm.The shells are beech, could be thin 3 ply with re rings and may be reinforced where the tom reciever and spurs are,or could be 5 or 6 ply no re rings. The Metal Bd hoops are not original, but they could be sonors, possibly from the phonic series.because of that the kit should be more of a players kit price, which IMO it is at 450.00,explain to the seller that it will cost some bucks to get it back to original condition,if you can get it for 350.00 400.00 that would be better, but you could put natural wood hoops on it or some variation and it would look really good. The snare is from 1956 - 1960,and I love that badge, and with the snare I would pay 450.00 for that kit no problem, because they clean up well and sound great.
