Agree, would have been a killer duo !!!
I played a Bonham-sized Ludwig (not vintage) for a year and sold it to invest further in the old stuff. Wish I could have kept them,...
Stef,
That 4693 couldn't be 4673 could it? That would mean something,,
Cheers
At a guess I'd say more than likely.. but I've not seen it previously..
Maybe some one else here has???
Help2
Hi guys,
It took me almost 2 months to find the matching gear but finally I can share some pictures of the (almost) completed set. I've added a 16" and 18" floor tom.
The 18" is early 1970's and has a serial number pretty close to the BD and 2 toms. The 16" is younger and unlike the rest, it's a 5-ply without re-rings.
I still want to find a way to add the 14" tom but as I always have a big ride in the tom2 position, I guess I will have to be creative,... not sure how.
The chrome is far from top condition and the set will never win a beauty contest but sound-wise, I couldn't be happier,... just phenomenal.
To keep the budget under control not all parts and bolts are original but I'm not really bothered by that. This will be a rehearsal and studio-kit so it will probably not see an audience or daylight in the next coming decade.
Last but not least, big thanks to Aaron (moonlightdrummer) to help me out getting that monstrous 18" floor shipped to Europe Belgium,... thanks buddy !
Stedi I don't know if you are interested but there is a 16" COW 3ply with re rings listed on my local Craigslist for $250 here's the link http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/msg/2755991248.html and that's a great kit you have there

Thanks PaiceFan,
I have the impression they pop up quite frequently.
Last week a shell without hardware was sold on Ebay, I was very tempted but in the end I didn't go for it.
Sound-wise I'm very happy with it so I will play the 16" for a while and decide later wether it's worth to change for a 3-ply.

Great stuff,as always Stedi.......But...
aren't you worried about the BD spur tips marring up your beautiful hardwood floors?
I wish mine looked that nice!

Glad it all worked out, Stef! The kit looks amazing and I'm sure sounds just the same! See you in a few months...June will be here before we know it!
Aaron
This is awesome.
I have an almost identical kit I've pieced together over the past year (13, 16, 18, 26).
Only real difference being that I've got a 26" former marching drum for the kick. I installed 70s Slingerland legs and it's rock solid.
Great to see someone else appreciating the COW! (embracing scratches, rust, etc.). Nothing sounds like it though.
I'll get some pics up soon! Yours look great though!
