Hi,I've recently come across a Premier kit (shells only) and I'd like a bit more info on it if possible. It is in a plain red finish with the standard P badges. It seems to have birch shells with birch reinforcement rings like the old 60s Olympics/ Premiers. Sorry I can't provide any more details. The sizes were 22 x 14, 16 x 14 x 8 & 12 x 8 - no snare.Any clues to what era kit would have those sizes and shell construction?Any help GREATLY appreciated. ; )
I would hazard the guess, that the floor tom is actually 16x15" - an inch deeper than you write.
Other that that, the sizes are standard Premier from the sixties and early seventies - they didnĀ“t make a 13x9 before the seventies, the 1972 catalogue the first to show it. The 14x8 was kept for several years after that as an alternative option.

Your kit would be called B303 - the B denoting a 22" bass drum.
Shells are thin, 3 ply either birch or african mahogany with reinforcement rings in beech - it is easy to tell whether the shells are birch, which is lighter in colour than the beech rings, or mahogany, which is darker than the rings.
The 12 and 16 CAN be Pre-International if the kit is from before ca. 1966 - Floor toms with 10 lugs are Pre-International.
But pics, please - and we can tell you a lot more!
Regards
Jon
