Rogers wood Dyna Serial #????

Loading...

Should the # on the badge match the number on the tag. Outside badge # is 2238, inside Cleveland tag # is 3538. What is up with that?!!

Sorry, I couldn't get a good pic of the inside tag.

Now thats an amazing thing. Does the inside tag designate it is a dynasonic? This is way out of my scope of knowledge, but it makes me very curious.

IssacHeath!

Hmmmm.... The strange thig is, once the EXTERIOR oval Dynasonic badge appeared, the paper tag/label on the inside disappeared! I can't say that I have ever seen the BOTH of them on the same drum! Your serial number of #2238 indicates an earlier model w/B&B lugs... and ... the shape of the oval badge is not that usual for a wood model either. I have a 7 line COB that is serial #2433 which is just a little later then yours, but barely. I place mine at LATE 1963... your would be approx. the same, give or take.

I think that you HAVE TO pull the top head and take some pics so we can see the interior label/tag! Your drum could be one of those "anomolies" that comes up now and again!

Take a shot of the inside crimp on the grommet too.

I am pretty sure that this is the Dyna Sonic that was available on Ebay about 2 months ago. Everything about the snare seemed to check out correctly and the fact that the drum had the paper tag was more or less a "mistake" at the factory, one of the shells with the paper tag that never got removed after they started using the badge, and it was very clean. That was what I remembered, it was sort of a unique thing that probably makes it more valuable in some way. I think I even asked TommyP about this one.

Yes, it is a B+B drum.

Thank you all for the info and interest. Here is the inside tag.

Some of this looks odd. But, so much of the drum looks original!! What do you all think. Here is one angle of the backside of the grommet.

And here is another angle.

Hey Mike!

Well, if that is indeed the case... ( that you asked me about this drum a while ago! ) ... and I didn't remember!!!???... You know what they say:

The MEMORY is the FIRST to go!!! :-) As long as some of my select other body parts remain functioning correctly, I'll be good!! HA!!!!! And again,

IssacHeath: Yes!!... take some pics so that we may all see the innards, and the full exterior for that matter... that would be great!!

IssacHeath!

Wow... no sooner do I post up and the pics arrive!! Awesome! And thanks... timing is everything! Now,

Yes, I do believe this drum is just "one of those" that slipped through the cracks with regard to the paper label AND oval Dynasonic badge... HOWEVER! ...

That grommet most certainly looks "messed with" to me. It's pretty plain that it has been removed at some point. Those marks are kind of tell tale... which might explain the COB Dynasonic oval badge on a wood drum. Still, a nice looking drum... and an older one too. Three ply/Fruitwood Stain, and BOTH badges. You know,

Is it "possible" that this drum originally only had the paper Dynasonic label and someone ADDED the oval Dynasonic badge? I guess we will never truly know!

Tommy,

On a side note related to this snare - if the drum were an original paper tagged snare and the badge was added later by whoever, would the drum have had a vent hole with the grommet - but not any small screw holes?

Second question would be, this drum would have been pretty valuable as a paper tagged only wood Dyna Sonic - if that is what it was originally... True?

I never saw the detail of the paper tag and the grommet.

Thanks for the pictures IssacHeath.

Hi Tommyp,

Thanks for your input on the Dyna that my son is showing on this thread. Could you clarify some of what you have written? I am trying to understand this sentence in particular?

Quoted post

Those marks are kind of tell tale... which might explain the COB Dynasonic oval badge on a wood drum. Tommyp

When you say "COB Dynasonic oval badge on a wood drum." why would you call that badge in particular a "COB Dyna-Sonic oval badge" instead of just a Dyna-Sonic oval badge. Are you implying that the wood Dyna-Sonic oval badge differed in some way from the COB Dyna-Sonic oval badge?

Thank you for your input and efforts!
