Premier 707

[FONT="Trebuchet MS"]Hi,

I‘m a new Member from Germany. Into Vintage Gear since 1999, starting with a Ludwig Silver Sparkle and a Vistalite, rather playing, not collecting.

I got myself several Snares, though (the ,Classics‘ if you will) which I played on many Recordings and Gigs.

The Ludwigs are great but what I always really liked where Vintage Premier Kits since I have great Passion for the British ‘60s and early `70s Music and Style.

I also noticed how many great (especially British) Drummers used to play Premier before switching to Ludwig after the Beatles got famous (Ringo being one of those).

Three Years ago I found a nice [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blqlLcmuXUY]303 Kit in Silver Star[/ame] including a complete Set of original Premier Hardware which I enjoy as a high tuned 20“, 12“, 16“ Jazz Kit, leaving the 14“ Tom aside. I really love the Sound and Looks of those `72 Drums.

In that year‘s Catalogue there‘s a Kit in „Golden Sun“ on Display called 707 including two 22“ Kicks, 13“ and 14“ and a 16“ Floor Tom. That Outfit was like the ultimate Vintage Beauty for me.

Recently that Set was offered on english Bay and without any rational Reason I clicked the ,Buy it now‘- Button.

Anyway, Here‘s my Documentary of Restoring that Premier 707:

It came from England in three Boxes and still had the original (uncut) Premier Everplay and Bass Drum Front Heads on.

Two Single Tom Holders were included. The Original Bass Drum Cymbal Holders and 2 Wing Screws where missing.

After unpacking and inspecting them I decided for a big Clean up. The Kit would be worth it. So I did a lot of research (mainly in this Forum) what I‘d need.

One Drum at a Time starting with the right Bass Drum was my Plan.

I found the missing Screws from a Premier Fan and former Collector nearby. Also a hard to find Lokfast 470 Cymbal Holder. New old Stock!

Left all those Drum Hardware Parts in WD 40 overnight. Then I applied Steelwool and ,Stahl (Steel)- Fix‘ and Car Polish Wool for the Chrome Parts.

New Arrival from the UK. The most beautiful Drum Hardware ever: Lokfast.

After WD40, Chrome and Armor All (for Plastic/ Rubber Parts) treatment.

Original White Snare Basket Rubber Parts were replaced, but Stand is in great Condition!

New Remo Vintage A Heads on.

Added another 470 Holder for left Bass Drum.

Still looking for those Rubber Feet for Bass Drum Spurs...

Thanks for watching!

Lars

Wow! A formal welcome to the forum. That is a beautiful kit and you did a great job on the deep clean-up. It the wrap plastic based or metal. It looks like brushed metal and it's really classy.

You've inspired me to finally finish my 60's Mahogany Duroplastic kit that's been sitting on the bench for a couple of months.

Thanks for sharing,

-Tim

Wow!

What a nice wake up call to find when I opened the Forum this morning!

Super sweet pics/super sweet kits! I think I like Silver Star better, but that's just me..

I see you have the rare early Lokfast hi hat stand even..I have one too..got it off ebay for $20 last summer!Score

There are lots of the later versions..with the metal footboard, but I think this one is much cooler..

BTW..I think your Golden Sun kit is 1973..as far as I know...that Lokfast mount didn't come out till then.....

Welcome!
