Paul McCartney's Drummer Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Paul will be 70 this year, and that's not really old. If he's still doing this at 100, then you can call him really old! But his voice was a bit rough at times, especially on the ballad. Apart from that, he rocks as hard as any of the youngsters out there.Bermuda

I found it quite amazing that after the Grammys "Who Is Paul McCartney?" was steadily trending on the internets...

If Ringo was the drummer I'd have expected a vintage kit, I don't think he drums anymore. Dave Grohl one upped Bruce with embarrassing guitar solo's, maybe he shoulda been behind the kit.

Ringo tours and plays every year with his 'Traveling All Starr Band"He was at one time using his vintage kits, but as of late,he's been using custom C & C/Ludwig kits.

I guess Paul still owns the rights to "The End" not Michael Jackson? He can do whatever he wants with it. I'm wondering if Ringo has any say what happens to his drum scores? I guess long ago, well-paid lawyers worked out all of the details.

Maybe not to his drum parts, but to his name ...yes.He had his name(Ringo) copyrighted.I think it was a couple of years ago.

Oops sorry, My bad. Abe it is. Abe was in no way featured and why not replicate the Ludwig kit in original Beatles hits on stage? My beef here is instrumentation. Sure the tune can be played on a massive DW kit but to what end? Paul wanted his original guitar sound, why not the the vintage Ludwig sound from the drums to really make that solo resonate as it should?

I play in a Beatles cover band, and while I understand the purist approach, the vintage instruments don't always necessarily get the job done the best, imo. I do have a Ludwig kit, but don't use it much; I think some of my other kits sound better. I don't even use my Jazz Fest; I use my Supra or Black Beauty.

My band does not dress up, either; we go for sound and use all kinds of different things to get the vibe out there.

No one else had an Epiphone Casino or rosewood Tele or Ric 4001 or anything else that might have been used on Abbey Road. Abe's just a different player altogether. He keeps the spirit of what is played, and plays it well.

How about those truck tire-sized Paistes? Man, that's what I noticed.

DW doesn't pay their artists, and only a handful get comped gear. Abe is certainly in that exclusive club. If I had toi guess at the others, I would say Peart, Bozzio, and probably Jason Bonham and Moffett.Bermuda

I wouldn't count on those guys getting 100%. You are right most DW artists don't get anywhere near 100% off gear. I know Peart, Freese, and Bozio are on the short list. I don't think there are more than 10 guys that get it.....If Abe is on the 100% list he hasn't been there for more than a couple years.... This info is coming from a friend who is a DW artist. He is in a national band with plenty of exposure and still paid around $2000 for his kit (including stands and pedals).

This wasn't a Beatles copy band! The set and band sounded great. Who gives a *****!. Abe's a big guy and plays big drums. If you remember, Ringo played a 12/14/20 set at first. The quotes were "he's only a little guy. He sat behind it and looked big". Gerry Evans, sales at Drum City......

As far as them being DW, get over it! They're modern drums. They sound great. So do my 3 ply Luddies. They fit the gig they are available every where as backline. Didn't see any Vox tube amps on stage,either........

I can see an argument on both sides for using modern vs. vintage drums in this case. I like and have both...vintage and modern kits. If it were me (and out of my admiration for Ringo), I would have brought out my BOP 60s Ludwigs with my old Avedis cymbals for this particular gig...but hey...just me.
